St. Bonaventure's win over Xavier in the Atlantic 10 tournament final took away one NCAA tournament bid from a collection of teams, NCAA interim vice president Greg Shaheen said on a conference call Sunday night.

 

Six teams -- Drexel, Miami (Fla.), Oral Roberts, Seton Hall, Mississippi State and Nevada -- would have been put up for a vote if Xavier had won the game.

 

 

Well, damn.

I bet they would've taken Drexel first, anyway. Miami needed 1 more win: don't lose to Maryland; finish the job against NC State; or beat FSU in the ACC tournament. They had great chances at all of those, but they failed.

New Mexico got probably the toughest 12 seed in Long Beach State. It's going to be hard but hopefully they can pull out the victory. Long Beach's fans have been talking some major trash.

Nice to see my Hawks back in postseason play and getting a nice W over Dayton in the first round of the NIT. Things are definitely on the up and up for the program (finally). Good looking young players and a really strong recruiting class coming in.

Lehigh vs. Norfolk St in the Final Four. I can taste it.

Tough loss tonight for UNM. Our three point shooting was horrible and we still had a chance. Gordon was a baller once again, I'm looking forward to watching him in the NBA.

 

With 3 outta 5 starters returning next season, our 6'11" ESPNU 100 center coming back from injury, a finalist for 2011 California Mr. Basketball ready to get some playing time, and a 7'0" defensive force recruit coming in we should be in the tournament for a 3rd out of 4 years. Life is good under Alford.
