Season kicks off in a couple of days, very excited!

New Mexico should be one of the better teams out west. Can't wait to see how Fiba U-19 tournament superstar Hugh Greenwood meshes with Kendall Williams and Drew Gordon.

DeQuan Jones to sit out Miami's season

Associated Press

CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Miami basketball player DeQuan Jones will sit out the season while the NCAA investigates allegations he was recruited with the help of $10,000 cash from a booster.

The school issued a two-sentence release Thursday, saying Jones won't play this season and will continue to "cooperate fully" with the NCAA. The Hurricanes and new coach Jim Larranaga play their opener Friday at home against Tennessee Tech.

Jones, a senior, was implicated in a scandal that became public in August. While most of the allegations involved the football program, Yahoo! Sports reported that an ex-booster said he provided cash to Miami basketball coaches to help recruit Jones.

The 6-foot-7 guard-forward averaged 4.5 points and 2.5 rebounds last season as a part-time starter.

I wonder how that bodes for the football team.

New Mexico opens the season against New Orleans in 20 minutes.

Make me forget about the football team guys... I beg you, make me forget!

The basketball team now has more wins than the football team with a 92-40 victory.

Jeez, Duke barely survived Belmont.

I'm on pins and needles waiting for UF-Ohio State. Second game of the season and the first big test for the Gators. I loved how they played in the first half on Friday in their cupcake game opener, but they were on their way to dropping 100-plus and kind of crapped out in the second half. I wonder how newcomers Bradley Beal and Mike Roasario, who had monster debuts, will respond to the hostile environment -- and a real opponent.

Nice win for New Mexico over Oklahoma State last night on a neutral court.

Great team effort.

:dancehead This play almost made me spit my drink out last night. If you haven't seen it, you should. Unless you're an FSU fan. :dancehead

Next two games are going to be tough for UNM.

@ New Mexico State who beat us earlier this year and then vs Saint Louis.

I'd be happy with a split, thrilled if the Lobos win both.

Nice back-to-back road wins by the Hawks over Wisconsin and Minnesota!

holy crap, that's North Carolina and Duke back to back they just took out.

Oh how I wish Leonard Hamilton had stayed at UM and not bolted for the pros...

Michigan and Arkansas was a great game. GO BLUE!!!

New Mexico is not very good.

The way they have looked against SDSU and UNLV, they don't even deserve to play in the NIT.

Rich Waltz is calling the FSU-WF game!

Rich Waltz is calling the FSU-WF game!

Scroll up on this thread and see how I had the exact same reaction when Waltz called a UF game earlier this season. It's nice to have that familiar voice you listen to every day for six months call a college hoops game in the offseason.

For the life of me I don't know why Florida can't play on the road this year. At least Kara Lawson is doing the color commentary. Girl power.

Great W by the Hawks last night.. if it wasn't for bad losses to Nebraska, Clemson and CAMPBELL, there could be a little more hope going to the end of the season

Either way, lots of improvement, more excitement surrounding the future than any other time since Tom Davis was coach and a much more exciting brand of basketball to watch.

Loooove me some Devyn Marble (Roy Jr)

Duke with the stunning comeback!!
