If Peyton Manning were Peyton Manning, he would not be released. Unfortunately, he is unhealthy. The odds of him returning to form are very low. The odds of him playing bad are high. This would be a very stupid gamble for Miami. The smart decision would be to let another team risk signing Manning while Miami signs Matt Flynn. Matt Flynn is arguably a bigger question mark. Peyton has proven what he can do when he's healthy, Flynn you have no idea if he's actually capable of being a starter. I'll take my chances on the guy who you know can be a hall of famer rather than the guy you're hoping can merely be adequate. Matt Flynn is a question mark, but I don't agree that he's a bigger question mark then Peyton Manning. He's been in Philbin's system for 4 seasons, and he's proven he can play well in it. On top of that, he's 26 and on the rise. Peyton Manning has a very low chance of playing well as an NFL QB again due to his injury.

People seem impressed with his progress, so far. Because of the state of his injury. For every report that states Manning has progressed, there is a report that says Manning is a huge risk. This is the same injury that took Marino's career, I believe.
March 7, 201214 yr Matt Flynn's case isn't much better. Instead of being injured, he's an incredibly unproven backup. He's unproven, true. But I put his chances at success higher than Peyton Manning if he were to come to Miami. He's played in Philbin's system before and played well. Peyton Manning is just too much of a risk due to his injury.
March 7, 201214 yr I'd take an injury risk HOFer who has shown no signs of decline when actually on the field and is willing to be flexible with his contract over someone who is healthy but has had only 1 good game and is looking for alot of $$ to sign. For years in Miami we have either had a QB but no HB or WR. A HB but no QB or WR. A WR but no QB. Sign Manning and we finally have all three at once. He's been declining before his injury. Now, he's 36 and has an injury that could threaten his career. I would take Flynn.

And look at how many more attempts he has in those years - gone are years when Joseph Addai and Edgerrin James are rusing for 1000 yards, he was the entire offense those past couple of years.

Kolb was in a QB friendly system in Philadelphia that produced QBs like Mcnabb, Garcia, Feely and Vick. All of them had success in Philadelphia. Kolb did not. Look at his stats, or watch his game film. You will see a bad QB. I'm not basing this off of Flynn's one game, so I would appreciate it if you stop putting words in my mouth. Flynn is a decade younger, has had success in Philbin's system, the same system that MIami is running, and is much healthier. On top of that, his contract demand will not be as high as Manning. He's a risk, yes. But a much safer risk than Manning. It does not matter if it's Manning, Brady, Montana or Elway. If a QB has the same injury as Manning, and is the same age as Manning, he's a huge risk. Huge.

March 8, 201214 yr Btw, it's only March and the season doesn't start for another 6 months.... The nerve to regenerate could take up to two years to regenerate. Even if it does, he still won't be the Peyton Manning of old because of the injury. If taking an entire year off hasn't helped Manning, what makes you think a 6 months would?
