2012 Promotion Schedule

Featured Replies

MIAMI—The Miami Marlins announced today their promotions and entertainment schedule for the 2012 inaugural season at Marlins Park. Sean Flynn, Sr. Vice President of Marketing and Event Booking made the announcement.

Monday home games in 2012 will be designated as Outback Steakhouse Military Mondays, which will include in-game entertainment and ceremonies involving and honoring our U.S. military throughout the season. Outback will also be the presenting partner for Military Appreciation Day on Sunday, July 1st.

Each of the 13 Wednesday home games will be a Giveaway Wednesday, featuring a variety of premium fan giveaways. Opening Night (4/4), the Wednesday game against the Red Sox (6/13) and Closing Day (10/3) will all feature special giveaways for all fans in attendance at Marlins Park.

Friday games at Marlins Park will now be known as Jiffy Lube Friday Night Live. All 13 Fridays will feature a pregame party on the West Plaza, including live music on the main stage, corporate partner activation areas, interactive games and entertainment. On the first Jiffy Lube Friday Night Live of each month, fans will be able to stay in their seats after the game and experience a live post-game concert on the field with top recording artists and entertainers. For the remaining seven Friday games, the post-game party will be on the West Plaza, with live music and entertainment, food and beverage kiosks, appearances from the Energy Team and much more.

2012 will also include the debut of Saturday Spectaculars. Saturday Spectacular pregame activities will begin with a party on the West Plaza beginning two hours before the scheduled first pitch, and will include radio broadcasts, live music on the stage, performances from Billy The Marlin and the Marlins Energy Team, corporate partner activation areas and interactive displays, food and beverage kiosks and additional entertainment throughout the season. Following each Saturday Spectacular night game, fans will be able to experience a variety of fireworks and laser light shows from the comfort of their seats.

All 13 Sunday home games will be designated as Marlins Family Sundays. Radio Disney AM 990 will be hosting activities and entertainment on the West Plaza pregame, including face painters, inflatables and interactive games for kids. Additional activities will be taking place inside the ballpark pregame at Marlins Fan Headquarters, including the popular Snapshot Sunday, allowing fans to take a photo with a Marlins player. In addition, Family Sundays will feature giveaways for kids 12 and under, with the only exception being on May 13, when the giveaway will be for moms in honor of Mother’s Day. As part of Family Sunday activities, kids will be allowed to run the bases and after all Sunday games.

Single game tickets for the inaugural Miami Marlins season, including the Interleague series against the Boston Red Sox, will be available for purchase on Saturday, March 3 starting at 10 A.M. at the Marlins Park Box, located on the north side of the ballpark, between the Home Plate and 3rd Base Entrances on Felo Ramirez Drive. Tickets will also be available online at the team’s official websites,marlins.com and marlinsbeisbol.com.

Tickets for the inaugural Opening Night on April 4th will only be available for fans purchasing Full Season Plans, 40-Game Half Season Plans, 20-Game Mini Plans and 20-Game Weekend Plans. Seats that are currently available for purchase will be marked with various colored season ticket seat tags throughout Marlins Park during FanFest on Saturday, March 3.

Aye, I wish the concert schedule were out, too.

Yeah I'm interested in seeing the types of bands that we pull now that we have a fancy new stadium. Also the genres.

Either way, I'm willing to bet Pitbull will have a concert on a marquee day.

Bobbleheads are BACK! Finally!

Yup! Ozzie, JJ, Reyes...

All the bobble-head giveaways will be for Wednesday games. Before all the bobble-head giveaways were for Friday/Saturday games (during the Sabbath) so now I could finally collect a few (don't really care that much to pay $50 for a little toy).

And Giancarlo one too. 4 Total.

Giveaways on WEDNESDAY!? Come on!

It sucks, but I don't blame them. Trying to get fans out. And a person who has all of the marlins bobble heads WILL go out those 4 Wed. just to get them.

Yup! Ozzie, JJ, Reyes...

Ozzie's comes with an umpire ejecting him, JJ holding his right arm and Reyes slumped over on the ground holding his leg.

Too soon?

No, this was funny (and a fear of mine for the season). Though, in JJ's defense, it'll only be clutching its arm if the bobble head is given out after May.

Alan Rickman is going to the Marlins games!

Is this for real???? DON'T TEASE ME!

I don't think the genres will change, sadly.

Well if a variety of people go then they will diversify the type of music, but if the only people that show up are of one culture then they are doing the right thing. Its all about the $ and if that means only one genre, then it will be about what those people want to hear. Its all very simple.

You've got it backwards. Promotions tailor to audiences. Audiences don't tailor to promotions. If the Marlins have OAR coming, OAR fans will want to go to the Marlins game. If the Marlins have Willy Chirino, Willy Chirino fans will want to come to the game.

The Marlins want to promote to the Cuban community in Miami and they're pushing extra hard towards that. That's their plan.

Exactly, so if they don't plan for any bands that are out of the general "Cuban" genre, the Marlins are doing the prudent thing. So why is anyone complaining ? (not directed at you)

I'm complaining, actually.

Because they're completely ignoring the fans who aren't Cuban and have been loyal for the past decade. I don't care if you give someone else their Willy Chirino. I want my OAR.

Part of an operation like the Marlins is to ensure everyone is happy. Catering to one demographic is a good way to piss off the others.

Well its the reality of life here in So Fla. Nothing much can be accomplished to change it.

While I understand your complaint, we're forgetting about the fact that this is a free concert after a baseball game. People are going/paying to see a Marlins game not a concert.

With that in mind, who cares what concert they have? To my knowledge no other team in any other sport does this. After reading that article it appears they are only going to have four concerts this year anyways.
