Too my fellow HS's what do you plan or want to major in if you do go to College?

Right now I'm leaning toward something to do with Genetics and I've been studying up on it lately too.

I wanna major in communications/journalism and be a sports caster (broadcast basketball games)

As for college, I dunno where I wanna go. Probably somewhere where they have a good broadasting program. I've always wanted to go to UM :plain because I wanna stay in South Florida.

except that i have never heard of UM with a good program in that.

I hear Syracuse is pretty good though.....

and some midwestern school...although I forget which.

Syracuse would be cool to go to...

plus, they have a good bball team :D

Syracuse is geat for broadcast

NorthWestern is stellar for journalism

and good ole IU has one of the best business programs in the country

i don't remember UM being particularly strong in communications when i went there for undergrad, but i'm not the most reliable source since i never so much as entered the communications building in my time there.

but for anything related to sports, UM is extremely solid just because of the connections you can make. drew rosenhaus went to UM for his undergrad degree and ended up becoming the most successful pro football agent ever, largely because of the initial contacts he made in the business.

i'd have to agree and say syracuse is a great choice since you want to do bball broadcasting, but UM should be a pretty solid, too. in reality, it's really more about the connections you make than the education you get, so make sure you pick a big sports school. oh, and having your support system live less than an hour away from you is a great thing (as long as you live on campus and not at home).

oh well, you've still got anohter 4 years before you need to worry about it, so i'll stop rambling now.

rune: what do you want to do after college with that genetics degree? research? work for a bioengineering company? go to medical school?

i have pretty much my college things planned out.

i, after this SAT in Dec, hope and pray for a 1000+ Score so i can get my ROTC Scholkarhip( i am going to be a LT. after college in communications), the florida merit scholarship, and the minority scholarship at, yes, IU. IU has a great history program, the number #16 newwspaper, a sports management school(rare). I will also apply to USF and FAU, and an outside chance at applicaion at UF, depending on my SAT, but i have a pretty good looking resume.

ramp, if you dont mind i wanna PM you or IM to talk about IU, if you dont mind of course

I would preferably want to work for A BioEng Comp but Research would work out fine for me. Right now though, I need to start working at getting better in Chem as it's not my strongest part of Science.
