November 29, 200322 yr A no-trade clase? Are you kidding? Don't you remember Charles Johnson? The Marlins don't have to go down that road again. Plus, Castillo's hip will never be 100%, there's no way he gets a no-trade clause.

Plus, Castillo's hip will never be 100%, there's no way he gets a no-trade clause. Sometimes, you have to do it. especially if you are asking for hometown discount. If you need to trade them, you just need the player to approve the deal. I rather have Castillo with a no-trade clause, than seeing him playing for the Cubs.
November 29, 200322 yr I hope Castillo comes back as much as anyone, but Castillo's not the player you want to give a no-trade clause to, not with that hip problem, and not in this market. There are a lot of 2nd baseman available in free agency and through trades. If they lose Castillo, they'll be able to replace him cheaply and spend that money on another bat or the bullpen.

Lets face it....its all a gamble Castillo's hip seems to be a minor problem, he still gets up the line quickly and gets infield hits. His BA was also high. If you are going to consider anyone to be dangerous because of injury then take a look at Mike Lowell.

If you are going to consider anyone to be dangerous because of injury then take a look at Mike Lowell. Also Castillo still had the highest OBP on the team and played gold glove defense with his hip bothering him. Plus giving him a 4 team no trade clause isnt too much of a big deal like ramp said.
November 29, 200322 yr I sincerely hope we keep Castillo and Lowell at all costs. Pudge is not high on the list (yet); he wants to much money; money we do not have... Signing Lowell and Castillo will help us strenghten the core of the team we love so much and keep it running the same way next year. I always wanted them to keep Lowell and Pudge, but if we can not afford Pudge, they definetely can not afford to lose Lowell and for that matter Castillo.
November 29, 200322 yr I'd rather have Castillo than Lowell. Lowell is more expendable with Miggy. spoken like a true braves fan.
November 29, 200322 yr luis was very important to this team, the whole top of the order was. when they didnt function, this lineup didnt function. im not saying give him a complete no-trade clause, but ramp's idea is pretty good, just have list a few teams he doesnt want to go to and give him a no-trade clause for those teams. great D, great hitter, gets on base, i dont want to lose him
November 29, 200322 yr I hope we can finalize the Deals because i dont want other teams offering them contracts. We need to secure both of them and then go after Pudge.
November 29, 200322 yr If Castillo is going to turn his back on us like this, we need to tell him to get out of Miami. I'm really fed up with the attitudes of Pudge and Castillo towards us. I mean, we gave them both the rings they wanted, and now they're screwing us. They obviously have no loyalty to the team at all.

November 29, 200322 yr lets wait until after they leave IF they leave before we bad mouth Luis and Greedy Pudge...

Castillos not turning his back on us He wants a 4th year And i bet if nobodys gonna give him a 4th year He'll sign with us.
November 29, 200322 yr He wants a 4th year And i bet if nobodys gonna give him a 4th year He'll sign with us. Aren't we offering an optional 4th year? The contracts between the Marlins, Cubs, and Mets are almost identical. Don't get me started on Pudge's greed.

We didn't gave them a ring, they gave us a ring. As a fan I'm proud and glad that Castillo was (hopefuly continue to be) part of the Marlins. He always played hard in all these years. I never seen this guy complain, or look for attention. Castillo is an example of what a pro baseball player should be. We shouldn't blame the guy for looking for the best deal possible. This is his chance. Do you think he will get a bigger pay day 4 years from now?
November 29, 200322 yr Q: Why did the cubs need dlee they got randell simon. Uhhh lets see Randall Simon is only good for hitting Sausages in Milwaukee.... Good one. :lol
November 29, 200322 yr Castillo is priority... We need to do as much as possible to keep him. Out of all the teams bidding for castillo we are the most favorable. Castillo is Staying
November 29, 200322 yr not good (the second one :thumbdown ) they got everybody that they have. I agree, the second article is :thumbdown . The Cubs already got Grudzielanek.
November 29, 200322 yr I personally think we will resign Castillo unless the bidding becomes excessive which wont considering todays market...Excessive offers can be expected on someone like Vlady but Castillo is not a player which is so good like A Rod that teams will overpay.
November 29, 200322 yr Just a thought maybe the reason WHY? Castillo is looking around is because those other teams are not only offering him the same money BUT the chance to bat leadoff. :mischief2

He will never be the lead off man that he used to be.
November 30, 200322 yr I saw the article from the Sun Sentinel posted on the home page of this site, and when I tried to go to the Sentinel site to see who wrote it I couldn't find it anywhere on their site. I wonder why that is? I found it funny that the same paper would publish a story so obvioulsy refuting Berardino's recent story about Luis being ready to sign. Once again, Berardino makes up stories, and attributes the info to his "sources", even though everybody knows that he certainly doesn't have any on the Marlins. How does this guy keep his job? At any rate, Iwanted to see who wrote that 2nd article so I could monitor him/her, and see how they compare to Berardino in the future. Does anybody know who wrote that story?
