February 28, 201313 yr Switch Reds and Cardinals, then put the AL East top 3 in a hat and pull out names and that's my prediction.
February 28, 201313 yr Rays win the AL East. A's win the AL West again. Diamondbacks win the NL West. Pretty much agree with the rest.

March 3, 201313 yr Author BTW, if Kansas City's young talent comes together and they can make some smart additions, they could be a legitimate darkhorse ala the Rays of a few years ago.
March 4, 201313 yr AL: East Baltimore Tampa Bay Toronto New York Boston Wow. What? Bold picking is all. I don't see any way Toronto loses that division. I don't see Baltimore doing what they did last year again and the Rays have some big holes offensively. Personally, I don't see a hole in Toronto.

The Blue Jays finished 17 games behind the Rays and 20 games behind the Orioles last season. Thats alot of ground to make up no matter what moves they made.

March 4, 201313 yr Author NL: East Washington Miami Philadelphia Atlanta New York I seriously hope that you are trolling.
March 4, 201313 yr Dude, how do you have 50 Feet of Crap below Seattle and Texas? Wtf, they've gotten better every year, they'll make second maybe even wild card this year.
March 4, 201313 yr NL: East Washington Miami Philadelphia Atlanta New York I seriously hope that you are trolling. I really don't think Atlanta, New York and Philadelphia are much better than Miami. I can see Philadelphia taking second, but that's because someone has to be in second. I think the NL east is going to be in the running for the worst in baseball. Atlanta improved, but not dramatically and they'll underachieve. I don't like their pitching rotation, or the addition of BJ Upton and the loss of Chipper Jones. Dan Uggla isn't going to be in the running for a batting title anytime soon, which is part of what I think ATL's problem is going to be. They can hit for HR's, but not for average. New York I think is in worse shape than Miami, having tried to weather the shit storm of the past few seasons and holding on to assests too long. Exactly the reason why I like that Miami blew it up once they saw it wasn't working. David Wright is going to be the next Tony Gwynn, a great player that never really enjoyed postseason success. AND That sucks. Philadelphia suffers from having no hitting, and all pitching. The real difference in them from Atlanta. If their pitching can hold teams to 3 runs a game, they'll take second. If they allow 4 a game, they won't be respectable. Miami is a mixed bag, they have all the potential to do well but none of the history the other teams have. We don't know what were getting, but I think that's a good thing. If they can pull it together, they'll finish around 81-81. If they don't they'll finish in the 70's. For the record, I think this is how the Division shakes up. Nationals 99-63 Marlins 81-81 Phillies 81-81 Atlanta 79-83 Mets 72- 90
March 4, 201313 yr Author lolwut. The Marlins are likely going to seriously contend for worst record in MLB history.
March 4, 201313 yr Author What a mess of an argument (if you can call it that) that is. You need to learn how to actually construct statements that are logically coherent and based at least somewhat in statistics. You don't "like" Atlanta's rotation? In other words, you expect Nolasco, Turner, Eovaldi, Alvarez, and Hand/LeBlanc to outperform the Braves rotation--Hudson, Medlen, Maholm, Minor, Delgado/Teheran? Even with the loss of Chipper Jones (not that big of a deal anyway in terms of WAR), Bourn and Prado, you expect Atlanta's offense to be worse than Miami's? This point wasn't made clear to me, so I'm asking. I mean, I think that Atlanta's offense did regress if you look at the numbers of the players lost versus what they gained (Upton), but I don't see how can justify the Marlins offense eclipsing the projected run production of the Braves. The same can be said with respect to what you said about the Phillies offense. For an even greater laugh, I'd like to see your OPS predictions for the Marlins lineup.
March 4, 201313 yr Author Also, your line about Philly pitching holding teams to 3 runs per game vs. 4 runs makes absolutely zero sense. You do understand that the Nationals (best pitching in NL last season), held opposing teams to 3.67 runs per game, right?
March 4, 201313 yr My argument is just that, mine. If you don't like my opinion, skip it. You asked for it and I obliged. I dislike Atlanta's rotation and hitting. I don't think they'll pitch well enough in innings 1-6 to win. I don't think they'll hit for much average and won't score enough runs to offset. I don't see atlanta hitting for average, just power. With that, I think Miami will create more runs, and their rotation will be adequete enough to support those runs. I dislike Philly's lineup, I can't see them creating enough runs to win. I can't see Howard, Utley or Young playing a full season. If the rotation gives up 4 runs a game, they'll lose. I feel Miami's lineup will outhit Phillys, and can stay healthy. New Yorks lineup is a joke, its a mix of old players who never hit and a superstar. Ike Davis power, and David Wright's average will be the lone bright spots. John Buck, Niewenhis, Byrd, Tejada and Duda will be jokes who barely bat .240. I feel Miami's rotation will have more upside, and so will their lineup. Miami's biggest strength over NY is their entire lineup has upside, we've seen NY's upside. Washington, they are going to be a beast. I see them running away with this division from day one. Haren, Strasburg, Gonzalez, Zimmerman, Detwiler. Two Cy Young contenders, and a lineup and bullpen to support them.
March 4, 201313 yr Author I'm not denying the fact that you have the right to your opinion. I'm saying that your mode of argumentation is clumsy and illogical. On what basis will the Miami rotation and line-up surpass Atlanta's? I'd like to see your expected ERA figures for the 5 starters and then HR and OPS numbers for the lineups of both Atlanta and Miami. The fact that you seem to be relying on batting average as the most telling offensive statistic is not helping your case much at all. Right now you are just making a bunch of lazy statements about diminished quality in other teams in the division while ignoring the fact that the Marlins have regressed a ton as well. I agree that Atlanta and Philly won't be great teams next season, but you are neglecting to actually stack them up against the Marlins. Those posts just reek of biased homerism.
March 4, 201313 yr lolwut. The Marlins are likely going to seriously contend for worst record in MLB history. I don't think we'll be that bad. We'll most likely be last in the division, though.
March 4, 201313 yr lolwut. The Marlins are likely going to seriously contend for worst record in MLB history. I remember when we had the worst record in 2006.
