That's really nice. Too bad that I hate the Dolphins, want them to contract or leave Miami.

That seems unnecessary...If you hate them, you could just ignore them.

I don't think they will be that bad...but I guess we'll find out when it is completed. I believe that the JumboTrons are part of the 2nd phase of renovations that begin after next season.

What I can't ignore are obnoxious Dolphins fans thinking they're still in the '70's. It's a horrible franchise that's been pretty dickish to the Marlins throughout their existence.

Not sure there are many of those people left at this point, but every fan base has obnoxious fans...you just happen to live in South Florida, so you see more of the obnoxious Dolphins fans. Granted the Marlins weren't treated great at Sun Life, but that situation was untenable anyway and couldn't last.

That stadium was designed as a multi-use facility that turned out to not work well for either sport. Also, the Marlins ended up staying there about a decade more than they planned to. It wasn't a good situation but it's over now...move on.

The Marlins were treated like shit at Sun Life. The Dolphins made money out of the Marlins and still sucked. I'm going to keep rooting against the Dolphins.

OK. You can do whatever you want, but I didn't mean for this thread to turn into a rehashing of some old history between the Marlins and Dolphins and a lease that no longer exists. Lots of people are fans of both teams, so I thought this was an interesting topic. Besides, in the end, both teams have want they wanted all along...The Marlins have their own home and the Fins can renovate theirs. I just think it's cool that the stadium is getting a complete renovation, which is something that has been sorely needed for a long, long time. I find the project fascinating.

I don't know why you turned it into that. My comment was simply that it looks cool, but I hate the Dolphins. I wasn't criticizing the thread or anything, just expressing how I feel about a relevant topic. Maybe you took my 'that's really nice' as sarcastic, but I really do think it looks nice lol

Well you did follow up "That's really nice" with how you wanted the Fins to leave and they have obnoxious fans. But whatever...We can agree that it does look a whole lot nicer than it currently does.

Yeah, the orange seats are gone. From everything I've seen out there, including the renderings, they'll be some shade of blue or aqua.

Thank God! Whether I was there for a Marlins game back in the day or a Dolphins game (made it to a few this past season), those seats gave me a headache. Sometimes they take the "South Florida vibrant art deco" vibe a little too far! Adios asientos anaranjados feos. (ugly orange seats)

Seat installation has begun. This looks so much better than the orange. The home sideline construction is underway as well. Looks pretty awesome.

For real... that looks pretty fuckin rad. I may need to go catch a Dolphins game this season and check this out.

This season will be the stadium's highpoint, because that weird mortarboard isn't coming until next year. Oh, well. At least we'll get Super Bowls and stuff.

The roof design has grown on me. I didn't like it at first, but it's so different than any other stadium, that I think it's kind of cool. The steel arches also add something to the look. plan_canopy.jpg

Home field advantage?

For the fans in the upper deck?

Shirley, you must be joking.

Its the the playing surface you want unbearable, not the upper deck uninhabitable.

I'll just put it this way, I dealt midsummer from 8am-2pm in full goalie equipment practicing for 5 years out in the sun for roller hockey.

The upper deck was almost too much for me, and I was shirtless with endless water .

I think we all know how uncomfortable that place could be. This renovation is at least a decade overdue.
