In my opinion, he's right, though. Pederson is a high-quality prospect, as is Seager, but then you're wanting Dee Gordon, as well. For one, as Spike has pointed out (many many many many many times), Gordon is having a luck-fueled year. Second, Pederson and Seager are unproven. So you're asking for a luck-fueled first half and two unproven although high-level talents. I know the Dodgers wouldn't do this (or maybe they would), but you at least need to add Urias into this deal. If Dee Gordon is the throw-in for this deal, great! But you're asking for a pair of unproven (at the MLB level) prospects and a guy with a lucky first half, which, while Pederson and Seager are highly rated, is overall an underwhelming return, and, yes, it would be disappointing.

I'll play Devil's Advocate here and join you in one point - Dee Gordon has had an all-star first half. His stats before show that this season is a little bit of an aberration. However, maybe he could be similar to Michael Bourn. A speedy, no power lefty who learned how to be more patient and become a better base runner. Bourn had a 4-season stretch where he had an OBP of .348 [2009-2012]. Good to have for a speedster in the leadoff spot. Devaris Gordon has an OBP this year of .343. Very close to that. So, I will say, maybe he has turned that corner. But, I am not entirely sure.

tl;dr version:

Two unproven but highly rated prospects and a luck-fueled first half would be an underwhelming return for Stanton and I can see why Spike would be disappointed.

Hey, at least you brought something to the conversation other than a Gordon/Solano comparison.

It's very possible Gordon has turned that corner, he's at the age where most do, and this is a kid with a major league pedigree. He is becoming exactly what he was expected to be, this shouldn't be too surprising to anybody. And, as I have mentioned several times, his BABIP is higher but not unsustainable because of the elite "80" grade speed he posesses. In fact, he has posted a BABIP of between .345 and .382 in 6 different professional seasons and his BABIP of .348 is not a crazy ton higher than the .321 career BABIP he has posted in the majors so far. It's fair to say he's coming into his own.

Regarding Seager and Pederson, they are exactly the type of centerpiece prospects we should be hoping for in any deal we make. Of course they're unproven, that's why they're prospects. Unfortunately whatever deal we make is going to be centered around unproven, high upside prospects such as these two. That's the risk you take.

It cant be possible that you are this ignorant about the game of baseball. You have to be trolling at this point. You just cannot be this fucking stupid. I mean my fucking gosh you are a moron.

So now that I have provided direct numbers that prove your theory of luck completely incorrect, all you can do is facepalm? Cute, bro..

Unless he's been getting lucky, like, his whole professional career.

YOU DIDNT PROVE SHIT YOU FUCKING IDIOT. You cannot possibly be this fucking stupid.

I just provided numbers that directly prove his BABIP is not luck. Unless he's been getting lucky the majority of his career.

Which is is exactly what it points to. As I said, you cannot possibly be this fucking stupid.

YOU can't possibly be this stupid. Just because a player has a higher BABIP doesn't mean it's unsustainable and pure luck. EVERY PLAYER IS DIFFERENT. Go look up Mike Trout's career BABIP, I bet that's luck and unsustainable, right?

Fast players, for instance, have a much higher probability of maintaining a higher BABIP because no matter where they hit the ball in play, they get to the bag faster, giving them a much higher probability of being safe over a guy like Casey McGehee. So, no, it does not point to Dee Gordon being lucky the majority of his entire professional career. You are a fucking moron.

Actually, that is exactly what it means. Dee Gordon is not in the same hemisphere as Mike Trout, for one thing, lets get that out there first and foremost. Speed has little to do with BABIP, virtually nothing actually.

You have quite possibly the least amount of baseball knowledge of anyone I have ever encountered, and that includes t-ballers who hold the bat upside down.

You are a fucking moron not worth anyones time. So from now on, instead of telling you why you are always wrong about everything, since you do not listen anyway, back to the facepalm posts. You ignorant fuck.

You're just digging a deeper hole of how stupid you are.

Someone else used Michael Bourn as a comparison for Dee Gordon. Let's go with that. Michael Bourn is not in the same hemisphere as Mike Trout, more like Dee Gordon, right? In 4,250 major league plate appearances, Bourn has a BABIP of .342. At this very moment in 2014, his BABIP is .341, almost exactly the same as his career, showing absolute consistency IN HIS ABILITY, NOT LUCK. Speed has nothing to do with BABIP? ARE YOU HIGH? So, you please explain to me how Michael fucking Bourn has a career BABIP of .342 if speed has nothing to do with it, because it sure isn't that amazing hit tool he has. God you're so much dumber than you think and it's angering.

EDIT: http://outliarbaseball.com/wp/speed-and-babip/ This is a quick read

http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2014/5/6/5678758/babip-separating-fact-from-fiction This shows an entire metric, xBABIP, was created to adjust for hard hit balls and speed. The reason? Because speed OBVIOUSLY has something to do with BABIP.

You calling anyone dumb is angering, considering your knowledge of baseball amounts to less than zero. Like I said, you arent worth the time. You are literally too stupid and ignorant about the game to even talk to.

You are worthless.

Sorry that you lost this debate. Like, it's not even close, because you're an idiot.

Unless you think you can actually debate with facts, and not just insults. Why don't you and your facepalm go cool down from this loss, or maybe do some reading and fact checking before you open your fat mouth so I can stick my dick in again.

I didn't lose anything. There was no debate because you are intellectually incapable of that. I have explained why you are wrong. Others have explained why you are wrong. And we have done it constantly. On this and every other subject you show no knowledge of. We have done it nicely, we have been dicks, we have been in between. But you don't listen. You ignore people trying to help you understand the game because you show every single post you have absolutely no idea. I tried giving you the benefit of the doubt. Others have as well. But it isn't worth the time nor effort to try and explain the game to someone who does not understand it, but who has no desire to learn. You lost the second you made a poor attempt to refute things, and have continued to show your ignorance in every subsequent post.
