And that is exactly what Dee Gordon is. He is having a decent year fueled by a very high BABIP, but he is crap defensively and when his BABIP normalizes he will be pretty useless with the bat again. Essentially, hes a slightly better version of Donovan Solano.

I really dont care what tool he has that grades out at anything, considering outside of this one year which has been bolstered by a high BABIP he has been awful and was nothing spectacular in the minors either.

 

A scout can grade it whatever they want, if they dont actually show consistent to use that tool, it is just an empty grade.

I wouldn't be disappointed with Seager, Pederson, and Gordon. But Spike would be, and he feels that's not enough. So I won't be disappointed with our return, I can be realistic. But he's in for quite a let down.

In my opinion, he's right, though. Pederson is a high-quality prospect, as is Seager, but then you're wanting Dee Gordon, as well. For one, as Spike has pointed out (many many many many many times), Gordon is having a luck-fueled year. Second, Pederson and Seager are unproven. So you're asking for a luck-fueled first half and two unproven although high-level talents. I know the Dodgers wouldn't do this (or maybe they would), but you at least need to add Urias into this deal. If Dee Gordon is the throw-in for this deal, great! But you're asking for a pair of unproven (at the MLB level) prospects and a guy with a lucky first half, which, while Pederson and Seager are highly rated, is overall an underwhelming return, and, yes, it would be disappointing.

 

I'll play Devil's Advocate here and join you in one point - Dee Gordon has had an all-star first half. His stats before show that this season is a little bit of an aberration. However, maybe he could be similar to Michael Bourn. A speedy, no power lefty who learned how to be more patient and become a better base runner. Bourn had a 4-season stretch where he had an OBP of .348 [2009-2012]. Good to have for a speedster in the leadoff spot. Devaris Gordon has an OBP this year of .343. Very close to that. So, I will say, maybe he has turned that corner. But, I am not entirely sure.

 

tl;dr version:

 

Two unproven but highly rated prospects and a luck-fueled first half would be an underwhelming return for Stanton and I can see why Spike would be disappointed.

I am generally skeptical of Dodgers offensive prospects anyway, considering their entire farm system is a collection of hitter-paradise ballparks.

 

And I dont know what you expect Wild Card. The Marlins would not take the deal you proposed for Stanton, let alone with having to throw in another player on top of it. It is ludicrous. Why you think the top power bat available will bring such a meager return is just baffling.
