SongInTheAir
Do people actually think the Cubs will be contenders this season? Their team: Jon Lester Jake Arrieta Miguel Montero Anthony Rizzo ... Then a bunch of guys with either good Minor League numbers who have very little MLB experience, or bad MLB numbers who are roster fillers. As Marlins fans we should know better than anyone that lack of MLB experience doesn't necessarily equate to lack of talent. Cubs will be better than people think faster than people think. Upside? Huge. Undeniably. But realistically, they should consider 2015 a success if they finish .500.

I think 2016 is their year to really compete, when the bats are ready to take the next step and they are able to get the final arms required to move forward. This is their fact finding year, kind of like our 2014, time to see what you have.

Besides developing all of the young talent, they have so many big pieces to trade away if they decide to go into a "win soon" mode.

They'll find out what pieces go where, who they want to deal next year, etc. Next off season is gonna be the Theo show.

They will battle for a .500 record and could be in the playoff race for most of the year. Their pitching staff is underrated. They are going to be filthy good, especially if Bryant makes it to Chicago out of spring training (which he probably wont).

They will also add another huge arm next winter when they are really ready to contend.
