October 5, 201511 yr Might as well have Marlins give him a call, tbh. can you imagine how much the world would shake if Matt becomes manger of the year here
October 5, 201511 yr can you imagine how much the world would shake if Matt becomes manger of the year here It would probably just curve slightly to the left.
October 5, 201511 yr can you imagine how much the world would shake if Matt becomes manger of the year here ya that wouldnt happen. at least the marlins are not the most dysfunctional franchise in the NL East! I dont know what better summed up Matt Williams tenure better than Papelbon choking their best player (no contest how much better he is) and then Matt Williams letting Papelbon still pitch after that. From what I hear, this is why the whole staff was canned.

October 5, 201511 yr #Nationals, by firing entire staff, showed they learned from one mistake. Allowed Williams to hire only one coach: Weidemaier. Not ideal. — Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) 2015년 10월 5일
October 6, 201511 yr When you are the preseason favourites to win the World Series and you miss the playoffs, this becomes rather inevitable.
October 6, 201511 yr When you are the preseason favourites to win the World Series and you miss the playoffs, this becomes rather inevitable. That shouldn't necessarily be true. In this case it is, but there was also much more to it than just that. If you look at it in a vacuum, a manager going 179-145 and making a playoff appearance shouldn't be fired after a 2nd place finish regardless of preseason predictions.

October 6, 201511 yr True though I think Williams was done before that incident anyway he was. his losing the team long before that had sealed his fate. his inability to relate to the players and his inability to be flexible to situations doomed him. the fight just sealed the fate of the coaching staff.
October 6, 201511 yr That's what I was saying. That them missing the playoffs wasn't the reason he was fired. if they had missed the playoffs just by playing bad, he probably survived. its the way things went about happening that lead to him being fired. Rizzo should have fired him in August or before, tbh. But he didnt have the nuts to do so.
