This is assuming Jose starts Game 2 which makes no sense because Jose not starting Game 1 would only be to save innings off his arm. Moving him one day back doesn't do this. March 20, 201610 yr Well, outside of the surprise factor, this really doesn't even matter. After April 5th, Opening Day is just one single game on the calendar. If our lineup is at full strength, the chances of us winning with Jose on the mound aren't astronomically greater than they are with Chen on the mound. It's still just one game. You could argue that whatever day Jose starts, our chances on that day rose significantly.

March 20, 201610 yr They say he is going to start half his games this year with a 5th day of rest - I'm sure if you map out the first 6 weeks of the season, this works out so the rest of the starters pitch on normal rest and they can get him the extra day, so to speak, a time or two.
