Marlins still might Resign Looper

Featured Replies

I'd rather have Armando for $2-2.5 Mill than Looper for $3 Mill.

But, if they both cost around $3 Million, I'd take one of the top 3 2-seam fastballs in the game with Braden.

and why resign him at one year $3mil?

make it a 2 or 3 year deal

this kid could BLOW UP and then we would never afford him

I just heard the DBacks will be willing to pick up half of Matt Mantei's salary.....how about a return of the Iceman?

I believe he would still cost $3.5mil

in case anyone wondered

If they are willing to pick up half his salary, count me in.

Looper's the way to go, and do you really think we could get Benitez for 2.2-2.5?

In my opinion Mantei>Looper>Benitez. I just don't trust Benitez. If we can get Mantei for $3.5 million I really believe we should look into this. You know they're looking for a Rightfielder. :shifty I truly believe we should resign Looper if he comes for a fairly reasonable price. He was awesome at the beginning of the year. He just wore down at the end because we used him so much. If we had had some help for him in the bullpen at the beginning of the year I think he would've pitched much better in September and the Playoffs.

How about a deal simlar to this one with the Dbacks.

Marlins get

Matt Mantei

Dbacks get

Juan Encarnacion or Braden Looper

Nate Bump or Blaine Neal

Trevor Hutchinson

Also Marlins pay around 2.8 to 3 mil of Mantei 2004 salary while Zona pays the rest.

They are trying to CUT costs... I'm talking about if we offer Encarnacion arbitration we might be able to send him to Arizona for Mantei.

That reminds me that I saw in front of this website that Marlins are interested in getting Mantei back since they traded him to DBacks years ago.

It be cool if we get Maintei Alfonseca and Looper all back on the same pen for next year, and they all performed at their est like they have in the past we us.

BTW: flasportsfan88 the D-backs gave Mantei that contract because when they got him from us he was one of the top closers in all of baseball.
