Fans of other sports because "baseball is boring" has been a common complaint forever... and young fans who go to a game and spend the entire time staring at their phones and tablets. The concept is sincere, I appreciate it in terms of baseball being a business that needs fans to be successful. But I feel like they're going about it wrong and making it a bigger deal than it needs to be when they don't seem to be able to knock off more than a few minutes anyways.

It's like people who listen to slower jazz or classical music. Should they speed that music up to attract new fans? Maybe they should educate people on how baseball works as a game and they wouldn't find it boring. And again, how important is pace of play if they're only shortening it by minutes here and there? There will never be 2 seconds between each pitch, it's not realistic.

December 3, 20169 yr Pace of play is important to the growth of the game. It's really that simple. For fans, we don't care. It's not easy to attract new fans when new fans are used to faster paced sports. Baseball is pretty boring when you compare it to the action in pretty much every other sport. I don't mind them speeding it up as long as it doesn't fuck with the way the game is played. Most of the pace of play issues that some football and basketball fans might take issue with cannot be solved in any way. I'm speaking about how it's not a game that depends on the clock and moving up and down a field/court. The pace issues that MLB is trying to "solve" are even worse in football. Frankly, I find football hard to watch because there are so many arbitrary pauses and commercial breaks. And play stoppages because of penalties. The action in football stops for so much stupid shit to the point where it has no rhythm.
