I don't think there are any realistic pace of play measures that could be implemented at this point that wouldn't seriously undermine the nature of the game. I wish that weren't such a pressing issue during these meetings.

I'm afraid more teams would pursuit Jansen now knowing they don't need to give the first round pick.

just heard on MLB Network the rule to give up your 1st rnd pick for signing a FA with QO stills applies this off-season

I would like to know the specifics to how they determined Oakland loses its revenue sharing and not the Marlins or any other team for that matter. And can they get it back? Say Oakland has new ownership in a decade and it's someone dying to spend money, why can't they still benefit from revenue sharing? I'm super curious on this.

FINALLY

Yea,finally no more JOKE,that rule was really a joke and the worst thing be our NL all star team seems not win the all star game for many many years.

it's such a stupid issue. Do any fans give a shit about pace of play?

Yeah I don't get this either.

All be the super low payroll teams,at  least we have a whole new dedicated baseball stadium but they have only a old shared stadium with football team, maybe that's the difference.

Oakland is in a top 10 media market.

Oakland should have never gotten it but was allowed due to their shit stadium

and Loria has clearly deserved all their hundreds of millions of pocketed revenue sharing dollars over the last 20 years

It's stupid. It's especially stupid when they're trying to do things like get the game to under 3 hours, say 2 hr 54 mins, from like 3 hrs and 4 mins... so they're basically making a big deal of cutting 8-10 mins from a game. If you can't cut like 30-45 mins of a game then it's not worth the hassle. 10 mins less of a game isn't going to bring in more fans. Real fans don't care about this. They're trying to cater to young people who won't care anyways. There are issues to address but it shouldn't be this grand experiment that's gonna save me 10 mins only.

I love the pace of baseball, it is relaxing and enjoyable to watch

"Yeah but wouldn't you like to end the enjoyment 11 minutes earlier?"

-Rob Manfred

(I basically just 100% summed up pace of play initiatives right there)
