How do you know he wasn't going to get hurt regardless?  Maybe all those other hundreds of innings he pitched has something to do with that?  There's really no way of protecting a pitcher from an arm injury.  It could happen on any pitch.

That's the feeling  I had when they pulled Chen.

Damn we almost had two combined no hitters in 2 out of 3 games that's crazy 7 2/3 and today 8 1/3 . Don't think that has ever happened before in that span 

 

 

Yes, but Dietrich is playing 3rd.  Rojas could have started at SS.  I guess Rojas is more versatile and can play more positions than Riddle so it's better to have him on the bench.  Either way, Rojas needs to be starting at SS.

 

I agree... I actually believe Rojas should be the future SS... Deitrich should be 3B as well until Prado come back or traded since he Dietrich has value... I think they choose Riddle over Rojas strictly for the "left-handed bat in the lineup" effect when righties are pitching. Mattingly is a book manager. Just checked too... Just checked - Gallardo is actually better against lefties (lower average) than righties.
