True, and this is who Stanton is.

The entire league knows how to get Stanton out. He has not adjusted in 2 seasons.

Stanton is inconsistent like most all-or-nothing sluggers, but at least he's still productive over the course of the season (if he stays healthy).

We should trade Ozuna at the trade deadline.

I'm not sure where everyone gets this we were expected to lose a lot bullshit. We have a great lineup (minus Hechavarria), Bret defense and a very talented bullpen.

Unbelievable.

The starting pitching is horrendous and the line up is good but i definitely wouldn't call it great.  They will lose a lot this year.  Don't be surprised if things bottom out this year until new leadership comes in.

I agree to trade Ozuna.  He's really not that good but maybe you can get something for him since he flashes potential every once in a while.

On second thought though, I'm all for Jeffrey Loria and Mike Hill never making another trade again, so maybe we should wait until new ownership takes over to trade Ozuna and others.

Did you post this to illustrate that Hechavarria was the 5th unluckiest SS in MLB last year?

Seriously, though, he's a beyond terrible MLB hitter no doubt, but he was also very unlucky.

Hopegully new new ownership will see that his occasional amazing defensive play does not warrant a spot in the starting lineup.

Yes, let's focus our post game thread on Stanton and his .927 OPS.

Yes, let's focus our post game thread on Ozuna,  his .852 OPS and his cannon arm.

Ozuna: the first person I think of when someone says "not that good".

You know nothing about analytics if you think that BABIP is entirely or even mostly a measure of luck (or lack thereof).

Please show me where I said BABIP is entirely a measure of luck.

DO IT

What is your stance on this statement:

BABIP HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH LUCK (OR LACK THEREOF)

So were you or were you not originally alluding to BABIP?

If you were, your statement about Hech being the 5th unluckiest SS in baseball absolutely implies that you think that BABIP is a measure of luck. In that case your claim was categorically wrong.

If you were not referring to BABIP, then I apologize. If you were, you terribly misused that stat by saying that.

BABIP has some to do with luck, but the factors of luck are largely outweighed by defense, park, launch angle, exit velocity, pull/opposite field hitting, GB/LD/FB, etc.

It's an aggregate outcome of all of those factors, which is why it's silly to look at a single number (BABIP) and say that Hech was the 5th unluckiest SS in baseball.

I know you are obsessed with giving me a hard time because you are immature, but you are blatantly misusing analytics here.

You idiot.

You used Fangraphs to show that Hechavarria was a terrible MLB hitter in 2016 (which he is).

Guess what else Fangraphs will show you?

It will tell you that Hechavarria's BABIP in 2016 was his career low.

THAT MEANS HE WAS UNLUCKY IN 2016, IDIOT.

Lol. If BABIP was about luck, it would mean that. But it's not about luck. (well not mostly about luck).

C- trolling

I'm obsessed with giving you a hard time because you're the worst kind of fan to have on a fan forum; you're a shut in know-it-all who never admits being wrong in any situation and you unequivocally made WAY too big a deal about the Marlins trading an injured pitcher with an illegal delivery.

Well, that's just flat out immaturity on your part. You flagrantly misused a stat and I civilly educated you on why. I'm not the one calling you "IDIOT" repeatedly in all capital letters.

Let's see if you put your money where your mouth is and admit you were wrong on Hech/BABIP. But I highly doubt you are adult enough for that.

Also, it shows even more immaturity to arbitrary bring up the Capps trade here. I stand by my reaction to that trade because the Marlins literally got NOTHING back for him. Pretty much everyone on the planet acknowledges that trade was a master clusterfuck and colossal mistake.

Even if Capps doesn't have much of a career going forward, the Marlins still squandered the possible haul they could have gotten for him.

I know penguino can be difficult sometimes, but Jesus Christ dude. He even went so far as to apologize. Penguino, apologizing... of all people...  and that's how you respond?

strange.

He didn't apologize.  Jesus Christ, dude, can't you read and comprehend?

Well, to be fair, I didn't apologize.

If your BABIP for a season is a career LOW , it's a clear indication -in most cases- that you were unlucky.

You cited Hechavarria's 2016 season to show how awful he was as a hitter.  But you didn't take the time to realize that he had a career low BABIP that season.

I agree he is a zero in the lineup. I simply pointed out he was terrible and unlucky.

Now I will allow you to have the final word (as is your modus operandi) because I will not debate infinitely with someone who will never admit -in any scenario - that they are wrong or missed a key detail.

Why is it so important that his BABIP was a career low? 2016 was one of Hechavarria's worst offensive seasons of his career, so it's not really a surprise that his BABIP would be low. That basically supports what I'm saying in that there is a correlation with factors that aren't luck.

Also it's kind of funny (but not surprising) that you neglected to mention that his "career low" .269 in BABIP in 2016 is basically the same as what it was in 2013 (.270) which is his other abysmally bad offensive season. Was he also terribly unlucky in 2013?
