Makes you wonder if Loria said to fire Hill and thus Jeter kept him. Unlikely but yeah.

How could Jeter fire Sale? He owns the Marlins, not the Red Sox. 

 

 

Then what should he have done that would have been less evil? And don't say that he shouldn't have backloaded the contract, because that's how nearly all megadeals are structured by MLB teams and backloading is in the best financial interests of the Marlins in this instance.

Stanton's contract was a brilliant one that allowed us to enjoy him under Loria.

 

Loria sold this team at the perfect time, because despite the fact that Stanton was likely gone either way when the big part of his contract kicks in... new ownership gives us a chance at keeping him. Though, not likely. 

 

 

I still think favorably of Stanton's contract.

I betcha Diddy is the next one to join Jeter's front office. 

 

 

What does that mean exactly? That he knew he would sell the team before year 13? Don't you think that in his mind Loria knew that he almost certainly wouldn't be paying for year 8 either?

 

Isn't it possible that's the length of contract that was required in order to lock down Stanton? You said it yourself that you are glad Loria signed him rather than traded him. This is the price.

 

I 100% believe that a 13 year contract was not necessary to lock down Stanton.  

 

 

It was without having to owe him a lot more money per year. Actually money, not average money.

Jeter has now let go of about 15 front office employees but is looking to extend Stan Meek's contract. If I'd have picked two front office guys who needed to go it would have been Mike Hill and Stan Meek yet both seem to be sticking around. Geez.

And I get the feeling that there were probably some pretty good/underrated/underappreciated front office people in the "underlings." People who may have made a difference. 

 

I know it's clearly too early to really judge but Jeter's front office changes seem to be equal to rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Most of the ones I have known or seen. It's called being a human being. I worked for Cartier (jewelers) & Southern Air Transport in their accounting divisions & at the University of Miami, within Facilities Administration, and never saw anything but civil & friendly behavior from senior executives and those that worked for them....always professional. Was there considerable fraternization, no, but there also was no disdainful & uncourteous behavior either
