Oh, I'm sorry. English is not my first language. I'm just trying to say that lots of coaches cannot change a 10 homer player to a 30 homer player dramatically.

None of us here have worked under him to vouch for any of this but by all accounts over the years from players, managers, media, and other coaches have all said he was a great coach and possibly a future manager. It's unlikely that he's total trash with all the high praise he's always given but in all fairness he will have to prove himself to the Marlins and their fans over here as well.

 

As for sucking as a player that has never meant that someone can't be a good coach and many have even said that the bad players make good coaches because success didn't come easy to them so they were always learning and trying to get better, basically coaching themselves and dealing with other coaches and players in ways to try and improve. By the same token it's been said that great players make bad coaches too, like Bonds who wasn't much a hitting coach.

 

Well no I wasn’t saying he can’t be a good coach cause he wasn’t a good player. In fact, I think even the sucky players who get to play in the majors are very good baseball players who know a lot about the game and some just get made to look bad by the insane talent of the others who were able to find success. My comment was that I didn’t see any success in his playing days, AND and I didn’t see any real success from his teams as far as hitting goes so I wanted to know what hard evidence there was to prove he’s a good coach. Everything seems to be anecdotal. So if he’s a good dude that players get along with but hasn’t shown he can propel a major league offense to better output then maybe he’s more of a bench coach (as he’s been in the past)
