Hensley Meulens could join coaching staff

Entire coaching staff will be hitting coaches

This is unacceptable. I don't think ownership would stand for the coaching staff to be hitting each other.

Pardon the negativity, but what exactly is so good about him? He sucked as a player and the giants have never hit well under him

Similar to us, Giants just really don't hit well period. That ballpark kills offense.

None of us here have worked under him to vouch for any of this but by all accounts over the years from players, managers, media, and other coaches have all said he was a great coach and possibly a future manager. It's unlikely that he's total trash with all the high praise he's always given but in all fairness he will have to prove himself to the Marlins and their fans over here as well.

As for sucking as a player that has never meant that someone can't be a good coach and many have even said that the bad players make good coaches because success didn't come easy to them so they were always learning and trying to get better, basically coaching themselves and dealing with other coaches and players in ways to try and improve. By the same token it's been said that great players make bad coaches too, like Bonds who wasn't much a hitting coach.

Exactly this. Menechino was probably one of the best hitting coaches we've had in some time and he wasn't exactly a star hitter.

"Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach"

In 2014 and 2015, the Giants ranked 5th in the NL in runs scored. That was the rank that the Marlins had in 2017. But ultimately it does not matter how much of an impact he had with the entire team. It matter how much of an impact he had with young high ceiling prospects since those will be the guys coming up in this system in the next few years.

If they could improve Brinson dramatically, I will be so shocked. But I bet it won't happen.

Don't worry about Brinson. If he doesn't pan out, yeah it would suck, but so be it.

This dude is a bad hitting coach..why bringing in ? because he speaks 5 languages? and Jeter saves money on translator?
