Alex Cobb for the Saint Francis Large Men, Elieser Hernandez 😕 for the Miami Marlins.

EDIT: Richard Bleier starting.

Cobb has a 5.73 ERA, Hernandez has a 5.77 ERA, so this will be a 1-0 game.

Go, Marlins!

WHAT

Oh he is serving as a starter, Elieser is fine.

Maybe he'll come in as a reliever and be lights out.

Here's the lineup, in only 4 letters each:

1. Jazz 2B

2. Coop DH

3. JoSo LF

4. Aggy 1B

5. Avi G RF

6. Jeez CF

7. JonB 3B

8. Migy SS

9. NiFo C

This is so stupid.  Gimmicks aren't going to make him a better pitcher.

it also makes managing the game harder for Mattingly, which is something he already struggles mightily with.

It's all hindsight, but seeing that Elieser stat with losing 6 straight games had me thinking...

If Sherman / Ng had signed someone like Carlos Rodon (I was hoping for this) then I doubt all 6 of those games are loses... let's say a +2 swing in the win column... Also signing Rodon would give a rotation of (in no real order) Sandy / Rodon / Pablo / and Rogers-Luzardo-Cabrera-Meyer fighting it out and eventually moving 2 of those 4 to the pen (Perhaps Meyer to closer).... you could then make a trade for a big bat when Eury is ready to push someone out

If Sherman / Ng had upgraded / gotten a lights out closer, it would've changed a few games that Bender / Sulser botched... again maybe +2 in the win column

If Sherman / Ng had fired Don and gotten a competent manager.... same thing, maybe another win or two in our favor

Coming in to tonight's game, the record might have been 27 - 22 instead of 21-28

Again.. all speculation, I don't have facts to back it but for the sake of argument, it kinda shows that even if the Marlins didn't get an elite bat, simply upgrading Elieser, the closer and Don probably would put us in a better position even if the offense struggles with RISP...
