When I read about that double hook rule (not sure if that's exactly what's its called) I thought it was ridiculous. As of today, I'm all in favor of it.  Fuck these FO's and manager's for doing stupid shit like this.  Good on MLB to force their hands.

No. Double-Hook rule is dumb. Lol.

 

If they do that, they have to expand the rosters to 28 for more bench players, further diluting minor league talent. Otherwise teams are sending a reliever up there to hit in the 8th in cases where their starter got torched.

 

Opener is fine.

If teams just don't use the "opener", there won't be an issue. They can ammend the rule to make an exception for a pitcher getting shelled. Like if the pitcher gives up 5 runs or more, then the double hook is out the window. Something like that.  

This is baseball.  "Who's the staring pitcher today? " is a timeless question.   It's part of the game and part of what makes it great.  No one will ever ask "Who's the bulk pitcher today?".  Fuck Skip!!!
