This is my year-long thread for Day off Marlins Evaluation.

Yes, Do Me.

Anyways, this will be random thoughts and bulletin points, Larry King-style (read it in a Kermit the Frog voice)

(yes, weed is legal where I live)

Marlins are 4-3 and performing above expectations so far.

The starting rotation right now is: Sandy Alcantara, Connor Gillispie, Valente Bellozo, Max Meyer, Cal Quantrill

The AAA rotation through five games is: Janson Junk, Freddy Tarnok, Robinson Pina, Edward Cabrera, Adam Mazur

Notes:

Liam Hicks got his first MLB hit on Wednesday.

Laurbert Arias made his MLB Debut with 3 scoreless innings in relief.

Edward Cabrera made a rehab start in Jacksonville.

The other minor league affiliates start tomorrow (Friday)

The top six in the JAX batting order are all players acquired in trades.

Jacob Berry continues to suck.

Big Wagon looks like Temu Orestes Destrade.

Garrett Pauley and Kyle Stowers have looked solid so far.

Javier Sanoja has made good contact, but striking out more than normal.

Jacob Marsee somehow has a .348 OBP despite getting only 1 hit.

Pollythewog wants to get back together with Peter Bendix and reportedly Bender has that annoying Taylor Swift song on repeat.

The Braves are on pace to go 0-162

Luis Castillo started for the Mariners last night. Luis Castillo is starting for the Mariners tomorrow.

Cooper Hummel is a free agent. Did not know Anderson Cooper and Robbie Hummel merged.

Me and PJ Morlando have one career at bat.

Me, PJ Morlando, and Dillon Head have 6 career games as Marlins farmhands combined.

Aiden May has never given up an earned run since signing with the Marlins. Neither have I.

Bruce Sherman still owns the team, unfortunately.

So was I supposed to read just that 3rd line in Kermit's voice, or the whole thing? Cause I just read the whole thing in Kermit's voice, and will from here on read everything from you in Kermit's voice.

Accept it.

It's do me day.

Marlins currenltly at 6-6 and playing above everyone' expectations.

Cabrera should be on his way over the weekend.

Jesus and Cronin both rehabbing in Jax tonight.

Norby not too far away.

Who goes when they come back?

Obvious answer is Soriano, likely Curry, Graham Pauley most likely, and Luarbert Arias.

Outfield defense has been impressive with each guy taking their turn t spectacular catches.

Starlyn Caba had 5 steals Tuesday. Emaarion Boyd said hold my beer and swiped 6 on Wednesday without getting a hit. Both guys are the return for Jesus Luzardo, who ha been stellar with the Phils.

Other prospects impressing early: Adam Mazur, Max Acosta at AAA, Robby Snelling at AA, Thomas White at Hi-A, and Andrew Salas at low-A.

Marlins sitting at 8-7, exceeding expectations so far.

No player drafted by the Marlins since 2020 has made the majors. yet.

The 2020 pandemic draft had 4 of 6 Marlins draft picks made the big leagues. 3 of the 6 debuted with other teams. (Max Meyer-Marlins, Kyle Nicolas- Pirates, Jake Eder- White Sox, Kyle Hurt- Dodgers). Prospect Dax Fulton was picked in that raft but has been slowed with 2 arm surgeries.

The minor league afililates continue to run wild with Jupiter and Beloit setting the pace. The Sky Carp stole 12 bases in one game this week.

10 players from the 2019 Marlins draft made the major leagues with 32rd pick Josh Simpson on the cusp of making it 11. Easton Lucas was picked in the 14th round by the Fish but never got past rookie ball and bounced around of a few teams before he landed with the Blue Jays and has ha two good starts this year.

39th round pick Evan Justice didn't sign but landed with the Rockies and had a cup of coffee at Coors Field.

Miami's track record with the draft has been exceptionally poor the last decade and is one of the areas tht are being emphasized for improvement.
