Clayton McCullough Needs to Start Being Held Accountable...

Let's be honest: the 2025 Miami Marlins were never built to contend with the Braves or Dodgers. But, they also weren't built to be a complete afterthought eithe

a good article and honestly I think it’s time for McCullough to go, I haven’t seen him even remotely evolve as manager at all this season and it’s very frustrating as a fan.

At this point I think some people on this board could do a better job than he has

I don't have a problem with McCullough. He's learning on the job too. As long as he plays the kids and gets them reps that it is what we need at this point.

Protecting the starters is both statistically and longevity-wise correct. Overusing them will result in injuries as we saw with the 2023 rotation.

Analytics say that the bullpens are historically underused. I would say we are doing a good job juggling their usage.

We are performing both over Pythagorean expectations as well as on pace or over mathematical projections and odds.

The two examples cited are Stowers being moved around the lineup and pulling Quantrill early. Stowers went ice cold which was an expected regression to the mean so it's a huge leap to say moving him in the lineup was the cause. Quantrill is brutal second time through and a fresh Junk pitched a gem in relief so the move worked perfectly yet that is being cited as a shortcoming?

This is just a complete lack of fundamental understanding of modern baseball and analytics and sounds like it was written by someone with rudimentary knowledge of the sport.

Is Clayton the greatest manager ever, probably not, but it's malpractice to say he is the problem right now. In fact, it's B.S. (subtle initials there for you to figure out).

Marlins maniac is a menace in Twitter I wouldn’t pay attention to those articles.

I agree with yours points on Clayton. My only concern is I wish he get more jacked up when the umps are forking us

If Clayton was managing the Dodgers they would be in first place and he would be heralded as a genius whose calm demeanor and relaxed attitude brings a wonderful atmosphere to the Dodgers clubhouse and creates a winning culture. 😂

I hate to quote myself but…

Managers get way too much credit when their team wins but on the flip side they get all the blame and usually are the first ones on the chopping block when the team performs poorly.

Great example I like to make is… put any MLB manager on the 2025 Dodgers to manage the team and guess what they are still gonna make the playoffs and possibly World Series. Then take Dave Roberts and put him to manage the 2025 Marlins and at this point in the season they are at best still 5 games under .500.

I know I get the arguments about how certain managers have a certain style and take into consideration stats and Sabermetrics etc.

But at the end of the day it’s not really that complicated to see a basic cause-effect relationship with MLB teams.

Let’s see.. put Freddie Freeman, Shohei Otani and all the rest of the Dodgers roster on the field and any manager even a single A manager with 2 years experience and that team is still making the playoffs almost like clockwork. 😂

But always the managers the first one to go and always the first ones to get all the credit when the team does well. How about the Marlins sign some good players and make their current manager look like a genius! 😂

Clayton just does what the Bendix spreadsheets tell him with a roster that is half full of Dfa cast offs from other teams. I wish he had a little more fire

I think this is the real story.

I doubt McCullough has much say in the lineups and basically just rolls out whatever pops in his inbox from pbendix@marlins.com

He probably gets texts in the dugout "pull him" "Bender" "infield in (in a double play situation)"...

no. I've never seen that message/color before, and my screenshot post right after that didn't do it.

Well I'm stumped, I'll let @pollythewog figure it out when he takes over

Gotta love technology! It doesn't seem to be doing it now. Maybe just a glitch. Or maybe @pollythewog made the glitch so he can come in and save the day after taking over!

If all else fails, we'll go with this approach....

Fun fact: Marlin Maniac are a bunch of fanboys with no credentials who have no idea what they're talking about and FanSided as a whole is just a big joke. Their "articles" are pointless slop

Source: was editor for that site for 2 years before I finally noped out and did better things with my life

edit: this was a long time ago so maybe they're credentialed now, I don't know, but still from what little I've read it seems not much has changed over there. Bunch of dorks
