Also the Marlins hold the tiebreaker over the Giants, so if the Marlins sweep the Phillies, then the Giants will be eliminated even if they win out.

Actually, I thought about it. There may be some funny business if the Giants end up in a 4 or 5 way tie that might give them life.

If the Marlins make the playoffs this year I will buy everyone on this board a Marlin jersey. You will have three choices: wagaman, Simpson, or Bendix number 69. Polly will get a pink jersey.

If the Marlins lose, then the post season hope is on life support. Elimination number would be down to 1

It is kind of bittersweet. The Marlins have gone farther than almost anyone thought. But it also feels like there are some missed oportunites from getting swept by the Rockies and then Nationals at home, to some questionable manager and coaching decisions.

I find it weird that MLB's standings page doesn't show the elimination numbers anymore. I had to go to CBS or something like that to find it.

They let it go too far down to the wire to where everything had to work perfectly to have a chance. It's great that they got this far, considering where they started, but it was always a slim chance at best.

I heard the reason for that is because of the difficult to calculate tiebreakers. Especially with more than a couple of weeks to go it gets convoluted with multi way tiebreakers and such.

Janson Junk was a big pleasant surprise this year. I had never heard of him before getting here. 4.17 ERA 3.15 FIP for the year 110 innings. He should definitely be in the mix for the rotation next year.
