5/12 Marlins at Twins

This ABS challenge system is so stupid. Hitters are afraid to challenge pitches early in the game for fear of losing their challenge opportunities. Can we just go full automation already? FFS

Eury's command is awful. I dont know if they changed something with his mechanics, but something is off.

Morel gets to the end of the month max to show he belongs on the roster.

Bailey Ober is dog-walking the Fish.

The way to pitch against morel is throw strikes down the middle. Curious what are FO saw in him they thought they could fix to begin with.

I'm sure they saw the raw power and figured they had something if they could cut down on the strikeouts. Same thing trading for De Los Santos. Similar to Norby as well. They scout guys with outstanding tools with holes in their games and hope they can fix the weaknesses and they will have something. It is high risk, high reward. When it works out it turns into a Liam Hicks or Stowers. When it doesn't work out you get a Wagaman.

They do the same thing with speed: Esteury Ruiz, Emaarion Boyd, Marsee, etc. These guys have an elite tool but are available because they have a flaw in their game. Polish the flaw and you have a diamond. Unfortunately, it is not always that simple (e.g. P.J. Morlando)

Most of the guys we pick up or trade for or even draft have outlier tools. That is the modus operandi. Personally, I'd prefer a little more emphasis on defense, fundamentals, and high game IQ. Right now the result is poor fundamental baseball which is costing us but that is sometimes the price when you have a young and learning on the job roster at times.

His time in the minors is numbered.

He is still striking out way too much and they just gave him a fist baseman's glove so he will stay down for a little more seasoning for now.

Once Morel gets Mervis'd he will get his shot.

Right now he is an identical version of Owen Caissie.

They have four guys in Aaa who are all possible future first basemen (ddls, Gus, berry, and kemp). All have flaws but it will be interesting to see how it plays out should Morel follow the path of Wagaman.

I have to give Clayton credit here. I'm glad he's pushing Max and trying to get him deeper into games.
