Marlins Moves (Injuries, Promotions, DFAs, etc) Thread - 2026

Featured Replies

Figured I'd make a catchall thread for random injuries, promotions, DFAs etc instead of a new one for them all....

Marlins To Select Zach Brzykcy - MLB Trade Rumors

The Marlins will select the contract of right-hander Zach Brzykcy prior to tomorrow’s game with the Nationals, Fish On First’s Kevin Barral reports.  Miami will have to open a spot on both the 26-man and 40-man rosters for Brzykcy, but 40-man space could be found by moving Andrew Nardi to the 60-day IL, since Nardi will miss for three months due to a stress reaction his left ribcage.  Right-hander Josh Ekness could potentially be headed to the 15-day IL, as Ekness was seen on crutches during the Marlins’ team team train ride from New York to Washington today.  (Hat tip to reporter Noah Berger and MLB.com’s Christina De Nicola.)

Marlins Place Janson Junk On 15-Day IL, Recall Josh White - MLB Trade Rumors

The Marlins placed right-hander Janson Junk on the 15-day injured list with right shin inflammation, according to Christina De Nicola of MLB.com.  Right-hander Josh White was called up from Triple-A in a corresponding move, and White will be making his big league debut whenever he appears in a game.

Eury Pérez To Miss Eight Weeks With Gracilis Strain - MLB Trade Rumors

The Marlins announced that right-hander Eury Pérez has been placed on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 28th, with a right gracilis strain. His recovery will last eight weeks, per Christina De Nicola of MLB.com. Fellow righty Josh Ekness has been recalled to take his roster spot. The Fish also reinstated infielder Leo Jimenez from the seven-day concussion-related IL and optioned infielder Graham Pauley.

Never knew the word gracilis before.

Me either.

They probably invented it for the Marlins lol.

Yes. Did you know the word "gracilis"?

Lol, I think it's impossible for a Taiwanese to know an English word that all the Americans don't know.

Oh, stop being a pain in the Garcilis! LOL 😛

Is it possible that Eury be the first player ever to have a "gracilis" injury ?

Probably not but it's the first time I ever saw it called that. Usually teams would just say "hamstring strain" or "groin strain". Something more broad.

The Marlins marketing department is obviously desperate for attention.

Lmfao, they trade from their starting pitching depth to address their need for outfield and now trade from their outfield depth to address their need for starting pitching.

Bit late but I really don't understand trading Zach McCambley for Rece Hinds.

McCambley looks like a guy who could contribute to the bullpen right now and Hinds is another AAAA OF off the waiver wire which the organization has been collecting at an oddly high rate for some reason.

Probably whoever Bruce can pay the least.

Just like Luis Castillo (pitcher ), they do their best to get rid of McCambley.

They don't value mccambley. I like him, but he is 27, was left unprotected and the Phillies didn't keep him either. He wouldn't move the needle.

Hinds is 25, has exceptional tools but has a flawed swing/plate approach. The team liked to take fliers on guys like these because if they can fix them they become Tyler Phillips, Otto lopez, or Liam Hicks.

If they can't fix them they turn into Morel, Wagaman, Jonah Bride, etc.

Low risk, high reward at no cost.

That's not to say Hinds will amount to anything. He has a little too much Morel in him, imo.

But he fits their ""type" exactly.

Personally I would prefer guys with better plate discipline over the all or nothing approach.
