Javier Sanoja

I agree Sanoja has played too well to be a Utility guy.

Bert hit 25 dingers in a year he got laughed back to the minors. He’s very likely starting next year.

We need *checks notes* starting pitching

Javi played well enough to start every day. So did Heriberto Hernandez. But Conine and Caissie were horrid vs Lefties. Seriously need to consider a platoon for both. Internally Gus played well vs LHP (.755 OPS). So I would pencil him in as the short side platoon to back up Caissie. In RF, I kind of like Andrew Pintar who is a terrific defender and had an .881 OPS vs lefties at Jacksonville. We need a backup catcher, even if Gus is on the roster. Either go with Navaretto, someone on the farm like Logan Driscoll, or go on the free agent market. For now, Pauley rounds out the bench due to his (and Sanoja's) defensive versitility. If you have to sub out someone in the outfield or middle infield, then Sanoja goes there and Pauley to 3B. Pauley can also play 1B for Stowers. Everything goes according to plan, Brayden Taylor takes Pauley's spot by mid season and you ship out Pauley (if he has value) or dfa him (if he does not).

Trade Ruiz. DLS and Serna as depth in AAA.

The biggest need for the team is pitching. Particuarly LHP in both the rotation and pen. I would be thrilled by a reunion with Trevor Rogers. Craig Mish says the Marlins will be active this offseason (at least after the cba is resolved) and that is the kind of move that I think is realistic for both sides. I have also seen some people advocating for the Marlins to trade Zach Neto and putting him at 3B. Sanoja would be the 2B and presumably X gets shipped. I don't hate it for the offensive perspective, but it does hurt the speed and defence of the club. Would need to see what kind of package it takes I suppose.

Every single year for ages now we hear the "Marlins are expecting to be active" during the offseason. I mean shouldn't EVERY team be active during the offseason?!

Also there's a vast chasm between active and actually improving the MLB roster significantly.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Hahahaha......yeah, I'll believe that when I see it.

They say the same thing every year and trade away and receive back garbage, or someone that'll help 35 years from now.....if they make it.
