January 19, 200422 yr i think the marlins should pick up a long reliever who can start if we need him to it would really help the marlins in april when we need a fifth starter and could really halp down the stretch in the pen (esp. if its a lefty)
January 19, 200422 yr I really dont think they need much but I would like to have some insurance in case Choi doesnt pan out like we want him to. We would then move Niner to first base and the free agent to left. But hopefully Choi lives up to all the hype.
January 19, 200422 yr :o rermember when Pudge picked off a runner on third in the WS. That kind of a catcher changes outcomes of ball games.
January 19, 200422 yr Obviously a middle reliever (lefty) weve been talking about this for weeks now, the catching postions fine, im pretty comfortable with castro and choi, and the only thing we dont really have is a lefty hurler.
January 19, 200422 yr We should look for a 5th starter/long reliever. I see all this talk about AJ coming back early. What's the rush? We should approach his return with the long term in mind. No reason to take a chance by putting too much stress on him. Also, we need a solid lefty reliever. Tejera does not fit the bill.
January 19, 200422 yr Outfield and Infield shouldn't even be on the list. Lefty Reliever and were set. I won't mind if by some stroke of luck we get Maddux to a similar Pudge type deal to help mentor our pitching staff...
January 19, 200422 yr Right-handed bat. I would've said lefty-reliever but if you look at the lefty relievers that are left, they aren't worth crap. It'd be nice to get a 5th starter/long reliever, but I'm confident Phelps could do the job.
January 19, 200422 yr I would've said lefty-reliever but if you look at the lefty relievers that are left, they aren't worth crap. That's still a couple levels better than Tejera.
January 19, 200422 yr Author perfect situation: we get a lefty who can fill in anywhere in the staff (rotation, long and mid relief)
January 19, 200422 yr I would've said lefty-reliever but if you look at the lefty relievers that are left, they aren't worth crap. That's still a couple levels better than Tejera. Mark Guthrie's available, I'll take him over Tejera anyday.
January 19, 200422 yr Ok lets say we don't rush AJ and he starts pitching a month into the season... Why do we need to spend money on another 5th starter. If we just use tejera or phelps hes only going to pitch 4 or 5 times in that month, we showed that we can win with phelps starting last year, why not just save money and do that?
January 20, 200422 yr Outfield and Infield shouldn't even be on the list. Lefty Reliever and were set. You're confident going into the season with Banks and some combo of Gerald Williams/Abe Nunez/Lenny Harris? I know I'm not.
