February 5, 200422 yr Link Girl raped at Lauderhill school by 2 fourth graders, BSO says By Bill Hirschman & Shannon O'Boye sun-sentinel.com Posted February 5 2004, 2:30 PM EST LAUDERHILL ? Two fourth grade boys were suspended from school after a classmate said she was raped in a bathroom at Royal Palm Elementary on Wednesday. The 10-year-old victim was taken to a sexual assault center after the attack was reported and deputies said they received back positive indications she was raped. The two boys ? ages 11 and 12 -- have been turned over to juvenile authorities and each was charged with sexual battery of a child and lewd and lascivious exhibition. At a Thursday afternoon hearing, a judge ordered the two boys, both dressed in jail uniforms and fitted with shackles, held in custody for 21 days. There was no reaction from either child. Broward Sheriff's Office spokesman Jim Leljedal on Thursday said the attack occurred around 9 a.m. Wednesday during regular session at Royal Palm Elementary, 1951 NW 56 Ave. The school has more than 900 students. The victim told investigators she had been harassed by the two boys for several months. On Wednesday, the girl was confronted by the two boys and forced into a bathroom where the boys pulled down her pants and underwear, then exposed themselves, Leljedal said. The sexual attacks included oral and anal assaults. The assaults were reported to police after the girl told a friend who told a teacher who reported it to authorities. Both boys confessed, deputies said. The Broward School District has already instituted proceedings to expel the two boys, said Joe Melita, the head of the school district's special investigative unit.
February 6, 200422 yr Insanity! There is no doubt that things have become completely out of control. A VERY sad statement about the current state of our society.
February 6, 200422 yr I would have those boy killed. There's almost no worse crime than rape. Of course, only if they really did it.
February 6, 200422 yr Unbelievable looks like school safety is getting worse by the day, in all grade levels.
February 6, 200422 yr good week for s. fla schools. a middle school kid gets killed the other day, and now this. its just f***ing sad
February 7, 200422 yr The saddest thing about the killing of the middle school boy and now this is that they're so young! I mean their minds are already messed up and corrupted before they even hit puberty. Somethings very wrong with that.
February 7, 200422 yr I think these two boys should be tried and convicted as adults, then sentenced to the exact same punishment that an adult would recieve for these actions. I dont care how old you are, sexually assaulting a 10 year old girl is sexually assaulting a 10 year old girl. If these two bastards are paroled at 18 because of the age they were at the time of the crime, then its gonna happen again. Maybe not to another 10 year old girl, but to someone. john Douglas, the premier FBI Profiler in history said that in all of his years, he has never seen a sexually oriented criminal rehabilitate fully. Which means that at any time of stress in his life, he is capable of doing this again and again. Only in time rape wont be enough. He'll escalate his way up the scale of criminal activity. When are people going to learn that you dont deserve a second chance if you do something like this? f*** the criminals rights! He gave those rights up the moment he took that little girls innocence away. Thats something that she'll never get back. She has to live with that for the rest of her life. I say that these two little pricks shouldnt even be granted the privilege of seeing the light of day ever again. Lock them up and throw away the key. Little bastards
February 7, 200422 yr Killing them isn't the answer. Period. They're sick. Find out if it's mental, home life, or whatever and then, and only then, put them through the appropriate punishment. I honestly can't decide how I feel about this either way. On one hand you could have two monsters on your hands that are uncurable. On the other, what if they're a product of their home life or what they see on tv? Classic Nature vs. Nurture. My solution (for the long run) is to get further along in genetic studies and find out if we can weed out sick or deviant behavior like this. What if rapists have a genetic disorder or experience too much or too little of a certain type of hormone or chemical in their brain?
February 10, 200422 yr Gee, it's getting to the point where it looks like parents are gonna have to sit through grammar school twice; once when they were kids and once WITH their kids to make sure nobody gets raped, kidnapped, or murdered. I don't know; when I was in grammar school I was AFRAID of my teachers and would not even think about even talking out of turn, let alone raping somebody. I'd get the ruler for laughing in class and these kids are raping people?!?! What an outrage. :banghead
February 12, 200422 yr This is getting way out of hand with these kids. It's looks like its getting worse. One of the reasons why I don't want to have kids is because I don't want to bring them up in this society. And lately there has been a lot of bad things happening to kids. You can think that your child can be safe at school, but not anymore.
February 12, 200422 yr And then people wonder why a lot of kids are being home schooled now a days. I used to think it was strange but after all this, I support home schooling.
February 12, 200422 yr My personal feeling is that most fathers do not take the time (nor have the inclination) to teach their sons the right way to respect & treat girls. I know it's an old-fashioned concept & all, but boys need to treat girls with respect. The "bitches & ho's" stuff is great for rhymes in a rap song, but it really wears on me, & kids start treating women as objects at a very young age. The explanation is that most likely a lot of fathers don't respect women either, so their sons grow up the same way. I don't have kids yet so it's hard to identify I guess...
