February 10, 200422 yr I personally am not a fan of the retractable roof stadiums from the point of astetics, i favor the new Camden Yards style parks. However i understand the neccesity of on in the climate the Marlins play in, from a financal and logical point of view. So i am really torn on this issue. Any thoughts ?
February 10, 200422 yr I'd like to see something get done soon so this crap doesn't drag on for another two seasons.
February 10, 200422 yr I'm not a fan of roofs either but the Marlins need one or they cease to be the FLorida Marlins. If a roof is done right (Bank One) they can be very nice.
February 10, 200422 yr I really think the marlins need the roof. Always have it off but when those rainy days come by they can just slip it on
February 10, 200422 yr i like the concept of a retractable roof. obviously it's good for when it rains and it promises attendance despite dark skies, but it'd also be good for day games. shade would be a very good thing to fight off the sweltering miami sun during the summertime.

Yeah, sure, Camden Yards is a beautiful facility, but with the threat of a thunderstorm every damn day, it is a necessary in Miami.

February 11, 200422 yr We need a roof, definately. Especiall with the unpredictable rain, and the summer sun.
February 11, 200422 yr We need a roof, definately. Especiall with the unpredictable rain, and the summer sun. Yup! Some fools say how it rains more in Boston and Pitt than in Miami, but down here it is cloudy and threatening every day. I'll go, but your average family doesn't want to drive an hour out to PPS when it is cloudy. Plus it is hot and sticky. I spent a weekend in Houston in 2001, and let me tell you: indoors on a Sunday afternoon is awesome.
February 11, 200422 yr If you ever sat in the direct sun during a July-September Sunday afternoon game, you'll know exactly why we must have a roof. It can be scorching. The only other possibility is overcast skies with threatening rain. A retractable roof is best so we can have a natural grass field, plus leave it open for those nice Florida evenings.
February 11, 200422 yr im not a huge fan of the roof either, but it is necessary it would do wonders on attendence not just on rainy days, but also on sundays if the roof is done right (miller, BOB) it would be great
February 11, 200422 yr I think there have been more rain delays in Boston and Pittsburgh ovr the past few years. I remember reading that somewhere. Doesn't matter. The Marlins need a roof to bring in people who would rather not travel out to PPS or the OB site only for the game to be cancelled.

Might as well negotiate for everything. Building the wrong stadium would be very damaging. We saw that with the Heat and Panthers in Miami Arena. They had an arena, but didn't solve the problems. Marlins deserve an upper shelf stadium, not some pieced together stadium just to say they have a baseball only stadium. Get the stadium with the roof. Correct the problem entirely and remove the excuses of the threat of rain. :hat The champ

February 11, 200422 yr Author I just wish there was a way to create a stadium that didnt look so ugly, it sucks that a simple roof over the grand stand wouldnt work because the team isnt playing in the rain. I feel like the retractable roof stadiums all look like big giant aircraft hangars, not baseball stadiums.

No UFOs were seen in it. :hat The champ
February 11, 200422 yr I think it would make it much more comfortable for the players to play under a roof.
February 11, 200422 yr I think it would make it much more comfortable for the players to play under a roof. Forget the players. Make it comfy for the rest of us to sit and watch a game. :hat The champ
February 14, 200422 yr If you ever sat in the direct sun during a July-September Sunday afternoon game, you'll know exactly why we must have a roof. I know, I felt like I was about to pass out. I felt bad for the players with them having to wear so much attire and having to run around and throw 90 mph pitches. I guess sometimes it was an advtantage for the Fish as the other team might have had difficulty to adjust to the heat while the marlins are used to it.
February 14, 200422 yr I know it would be great for us to have the roof too, but I'm thinking of the players. I thought it might help their performance.
