IYO Who will be our biggest dissapointment?

I do not see Castro doing well, although I want him to. But that would not be a dissapointment.

I do not think Dontrelle will live up to his rookie season. Remember second half of the season? And playoffs??

remember September?

he will be fine

statwise, i'd guess that d train would be most likely to have a big drop from last season.

also, i wouldn't be totally surprised if niner has a bad year, and it wouldn't shock me if mike lowell has a dropoff from last season's HR numbers.

:chair At the risk of being crucified on this site, I think the biggest disappointment may be Conine. He is at that age where the skills can disappear overnight. I know he is a fitness freak, but I think there is a chance his offensive numbers will disappoint....hope not but could be! :confused

Conine was the man throughout the playoffs, starting in those Philly series, but lets not forget him starting his season with the Marlins lik 3-25.

Well, if we're talking biggest drop in numbers, the Lowell jumps out at me big time because he had a real "career" year last year. I think he'll continue at that level but it wouldn't surprise me if he dipped a little.

But for me, I'm going to have to go with Chad Fox being the biggest (potentially) disappointment because he's now the only option in the pen other than Benitez, so you know he'll see a lot of work. He didn't fare too well in Boston, and a big reason I think he did so well coming over here was that a lot of hitters in the NL weren't used to seeing his stuff yet, so next year could be a little rocky for him. I just hope Beinfest has some ideas already in place because our 'pen could be a major disappointment (although I do think Benitez will surprise a lot of people).

I'm trying to think of someone, but I can't. I mean, I don't see Dontrelle or Conine doing as well as some may think, but they won't be dissappointing, either. I'm confident this team will succeed.

we have a sold squad i really dont see any one stu. the will be there up and down i think theres gping to be more ups.

i would have said dontrelle, but now that just about everyone expects dissapointment from willis, i will say he will IMPROVE on last year. only because its so hard 2 predict these things and scince hes now on the spotlight 2 struggle. many times it works the other way around. so i will go ahead and say willis will suceed this season (only because every1 is doubting him. these things work in reverse)

so with that said, i will say gonzo will dissapoint even though he shouldnt have high expectations.

Why is everyone so down on Dontrelle? He threw over 200 innings combined last year, something he had never done before. He wasn't used to it physically. He has drastically worked on his stamina and endurence (sp) over the off-season, and I look for no such drop off from last year.

his delivery is learnable. his "stuff" isn't outstanding and he relied much more on deception to get hitters out. batters hit him better after they've seen him a few times.

it's not uncommon for rookie pitchers to go on little rampages when they start their careers (a la whitey ford or livan) since it takes awhile before teams "learn" about them.

oh yeah, and d train threw 160 and 2/3 innings last season-- not 200+.

The worst i think will be Choi in my opinion.

This is like his 2nd year playing MLB ball. He needs to do alot of adjustments.

I think it might be Fox or Penny. Fox because of his arm problems in the past and this was only hes 2nd good year and Penny because of his attitude.

And logic would say Conine because of his age but he had one of his better seasons as of late last year and keeps himself in very good shape but I think he will continue to produce like he has in previous seasons.

I agree. Lowell's numbers will go back down some, but he will still be among the elite and that is not bad because he did have a career season last year.

I agree about Fox. I think he is going to get injured, but I think our bullpen is going to be better this year than last. Neu is going to be a great find for us, Benitez is going to be damn near automatic, and I am thinking we will get another surprise in the pen. But I am going with Fox, but I dont see it as all that disappointing because someone will pick up the slack and this team WILL win ball games.
