  1. i think everyone should just stop talking about how if he plays outfield he just just an above average offensive player. He is a 40-40 guy. Please tell me who else you can get that is capable of that ANY POSITION. In addition, if we get him, I say he have the best 1-5 offensively in the NL and we certainly can afford him next year. Also, if we get the stadium I think this is something that Beinfest should at least look into. This is also one of the few teams where you can feel completely comfortable taking him out of that leadoff and even second spot and bump him down to that third spot where he could be most succcessful. I also would not give up Allison, but I am not so sure we have to.
  2. Having recently read an article on ESPN Insider about how the Rangers are looking to unload Soriano for a Blue Chip Pitching Prospect it makes me sick. Soriano is one of the most special players in the game. Say hypothetically the marlins could give up a couple of there top pitching prospects to acquire Soriano, possibly stick him in left or right, and move conine to first, i'm curious what you guys would think of such a deal. That speed at the top of the lineup would be probobly the best ever. Just imagine Piere-Castillo-Soriano. Not to mention that Soriano is capable of hitting 40 out (though at PPS it wouldnt be easy). Also this would compensate for some of the fire power lost from losing Pudge and Lee. I'd just like to say again that I have no information to back a trade like this up, but am just curious of others opinions.
  3. there is no way the fish would have panned out the money for lee. while the money from pudge is undoubtably there, this team centers itself on wise spending. Lee is a great glove, but his bat was so erratic, certainly not worth that kind of long term money
  4. This is directed to 1truefan or anyone else that could answer for that matter. How would I go about finding the hotel the Marlins are staying at?
  5. I am planning a road trip for the month of May with a bunch of friends with one of the main goals being to go to the Marlins road games. It will be a little tough to make it all the way out to San Fran for that first trip of the month, but we will be trying to make it to Houston, St Louis and Cincinati. Is anyone else planning on going to any of these games or any other road trips for that manner. Also, does anyone have any tips on what to do when you follow your team on the road? PS: to all those sox fans out there....... HA!
  6. If anyone knows, I was wondering if spring training is open to the public as soon as pitchers and catchers report or if it is not until the first Spring game or some time in between. If anyone knows some help would be great.
  7. Im suprised no George W hater has come up with this and im certainly not one of them, but did the joke cross anyones mind that President Bush's opinions on the Marlins may be the most qualified thing he has spoken on since taking office?
  8. Ryan Dempster just signed with those fricken cubs for 500K. Does anyone else think that he would have been a very nice sign as an interem guy at the very least until AJ gets back to full strength for that kind of money?
  9. did brian jordan sign with anyone yet, if not, what do you think he would command?
  10. i think you all are getting a little ahead of us, once we get a finalized offer, when they tell lauria to make a decision about the stadium (if at all) then you can argue, but in all likely hood, i dont see us getting two offers, really, we would probobly be lucky for one. The way i look at it, speculation about what don king and corrupt miami officials are saying is nothing to read that much into
  11. another big plus to maddux is that we dont need to sign him to a big long term deal like some other big name players, after the way CJ thrived those last few years in a marlins uni, im probobly over cautious about locking away or teams money for years to come
  12. my post was meant to be taken with a grain of salt, it was a sarcastic comment that i realize could never work but simply was mean to meake fun of this entire process we are going through but i guess this did not come across to all of you, hopefully this will clear things up
  13. From the beginning of this offseason the problems with stadium discussions have constatnly been causing me as a fan nothing but agravation. After much consideration I have finally come up with the best way to solve our stadium woes. The way I see it we have at most 18-20 thousand people that are going to show up to these games on a regular basis throughout the entire 162 game season. Now here is my plan. I do not remember the exact nubmer, but I know Lauria pledged in the low 100 millions for the new stadium. I suggest he builds an EXTREMELY low cost stadium thats holds 20K people. This stadium will cost far less that the 100 million or so Lauria has pledged, forgetting about whatever money the county its built in may offer. In doing this the Marlins will escape Heuizenga's stranle hold he has over the fish and we will get our concession and parking money. Now our new stadium will give us naming rights as well that will contribute funding, we will still be able to sell the number of seats we need to for most games. The best part about this is that all of those fans that were "diehard" for the phillies series in the end of september and on, will not be able to get into the game. I understand that none of this could ever work, but I have trouble understanding how investing 325 million in the dome stadium seems so profitable. In my mind, give me a 50 million dollar 20K person stadium and spread out the other 275 Million over the next 20 years to help us to build our team and support us to the Florida fan drouts. I realize that none of this is feasible in reality, but I just think its somewhat humerous to look at this. Please comment as you wish. PS: Thank you to all of you POS So Fla fans (obviously real fans excluded) for having made stadium talks more important in the offseason than offseason acquistions and in fact having made our offseason acquistions entirely tied to stadium developments.
