i'm curious as to how you are working under minimum wage as well - only thing I could see is that it's contract work for a fixed rate and the # of hours it takes to complete the contracted task would average out below the minimum - although technically not violate minimum wage

AZ just passed a measure that ties it to inflation and it is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen a recipe for stagflation if I've ever seen one I don't think it's necessary to adjust at all - but economically wouldn't be opposed to a reasonable one time increase every 5 years or so if the prevailing economic condition could sustain it however, tying something that is essentially loose money to an imperfect indicator and having dollars become more readily available during inflationary times is just nonsense - ever notice how bond rates go up in inflationary times, to make save more appealing and constrict the supply of money strain on pricing? - why make it law that you have to act contrary to this?

i'm not saying they have no value - but they can also benefit from something like this all the mom & pop shops in downtown glendale have had a great boon from the stadiums also, states often act idiotically and force businesses out - NY is terrible at this - they make it so unattractive to do business there that the big company leaves, and the small mom & pop shops are dead without them you need draws to bring smart people to an area - with that comes the businesses to support the people - the pizza shops, electronic stores, clothiers, home decorations, real estate, etc

mom & pop shops don't bring that great of an impact - greater impact, greater relief (or competition to bring them in) i'm not a fan of taxes in general and really not a fan of corporate welfare, but they do exist - I would rather see a municipality make an effort to bring in a viable economic benefit, than just let it walk away it sucks, but sometimes you have to take the bad with the good

what, the stadium won't help redevelop the wharehouse district and add another draw to the cities for the summer months which would provide public benefit?!
  6. if they spend anytime in the new gophers stadium, that is exactly what they'll be doing it's also not so much playing in the conditions - as it is spectating in the conditions
  7. congrats to the bears my hawks just didn't have enough today - proud of how they played and fought through all the adversity they had this season - just couldn't get it done with the opportunities they had
  8. rocky point this weekend is out - cold front coming through and there is no reason to go to the beach, when it's cloudy with highs in the 50s however, I did find roundtrip tickets to denver for $80, so I'll be heading there in april
  9. I did a lot of travel last year, so this year I don't think i'm going to do anything crazy - just a lot of shorter trips around AZ this weekend I'll probably end up in Rocky Point, MX - debating about a trip to either San Antonio or Nashville in the spring, will make another trek or two to laughlin, have friends trying to get us up to vegas for march madness/st. patricks day/stephen lynch show (but probably will just stay in phx) will probably make it up to seattle again for a seahawks game also a lot of business travel on the west coast along with visiting family in albuquerque
  10. interesting game - haven't watched much of the jets this year, but i'm suprised by the amount of movement they are able to do at the line and the variety of offensive sets - especially in a road playoff game
  11. i've been really impressed with DuPay so far and am cautiously optimistic that this time it will all work out I one day want to travel for opening day in a beautiful new stadium
  12. still waiting on that pittsburgh playoff game?!!? hmm i wasnt mentioning my team now was i?. i wasnt even talking about you now was i? typical seahawks fan comment, still bitter from last years super bowl. got 5? better yet, got 1? agreed... you're a good sport dude, I was really hoping you weren't going to overreact at my light chiding... I respect the Seahawks and their system, they're a good team, certainly the class of the NFC if not for the Bears still, thats no reason to be a douchebag if you really took offense to that then you pretty much need to graduate HS, find another layer of skin and quit taking the actions of others so seriously
  13. can't take any of this seriously - i'm just a tall pasty dope who enjoys watching sports - fun to banter, but when I go to games and see fights break out, can't help but laugh at how stupid it all is i've been a seahawks fan for over 20 years - in that span i've seen 3 playoff wins - i'm going to enjoy each on of them and when it's all done, well I have a wife, dog, cat and a good job to keep my mind interesting
  14. all i have is a wedding ring - i'm not a pro athlete - just a fan
  15. f'ed up and very sad
  16. cowher has long been one of my favorite coaches - he is more than welcome to come up to seattle after holmgren hangs them up he's had a long run though - 15 years as a coach in the NFL is a pretty much a career
  17. still waiting on that pittsburgh playoff game?!!? will never argue with a win - seattle controlled the game, but did enough to lose proud of hte way the D played missing 3 of it's top 4 corners matt played a very poor game and it was obvious that DJ wasn't healthy out there however, engram and stevens saved the day nice win - next week will be tough, but I think both squads are beatable - the NFC is wide open
  18. and the money keeps flowing - they draw well and are a name school, they will generate hype and get ranked where they shouldn't - then they will get to these big bowl games and collect huge paychecks to be completely overmatched - which can be used to generate more hype

scotch whiskey heritage museum is great also got to visit some of the old family castles and stuff on the opposite coast and discovered that the founder of the clan was a norwegian - so all my scottish heritage is also norwegian heritage, which increased my norwegian roots to being dominant then again I'm a dork and I like all that fun stuff I would recommend getting to edinburgh just before the start of festival in August and staying through the beginning (which was the jazz & blues portion when I went)

As a side note, are there any Scotch drinkers in the house? Yup. Always on ice. Just switched from Dewars 12 to Johnny Walker Black. I'm enjoying it. The Johnny Walker has more hints of caramel than the Dewars does. Plus a stronger richer flavor, yet not harsher. I had tried my hand at Bourbon Whiskey for a while but it wasn't really my thing. Though, Booker's Kentucky Bourbon is great stuff. Very strong, yet smooth. what?! - switching from Bookers to Black Label ?!!? shamefull I'm a bourbon guy - probably the stuff I drink the most is knob creek - i love all the beam brands though (beam, beam black, knob creek, bookers, bakers & basil haydens) used to drink scotch quite a bit, but not digging it as much anymore - blends are good for the everyday, but usually I would pick up single malts - if you want to really taste scotch go for an Islay Malt - I'd recommend Laphroaig, it's easy to get and a good representation of Islays If you want to just get wrecked, pick up a cask strength lowland malt - had one in edinburgh that was one of the smoothest things I've ever tasted and was around 130 proof
  21. that is truth - not enough schools would schedule them, they can get 1-2 name teams from a power conference a year (and that is in a good year) and with then they would all be road games most big schools don't need the game and have little to gain by it
  22. I couldn't stand laraque until he came here - now I love the guy - he does a love line type thing on morning radio and is just very affable - many hockey fights start the same way - "you want to go?!"

Paul Allen (especially with Seahawks), Jerry Jones, Steinbrenner, Cuban & pat bowlen
  24. im sorry but screaming into a microphone isnt music...and not to get into the whole what is art issue...but 311 at least shows musical talent, unlike AS, or SOD...i could deal with some disturbed or staind though... How does A7X not show musical talent? They can all play their instruments much better than anyone in 311 can. A7X is a sick band that is blessed with alot of talent. they are already 10x bigger than 311 is, and if they keep up there pace, in 15-20 years they (maybe) will be said in the same breath as metallica. once again, when you try to dump one band to build another up it often times makes you look stupid - both bands had two CDs before hitting with their major release - they band has been around nearly 20 years, since 1995 they have had all but one release in the top 15 of the billboard 200 - they have had 5 singles in the top 3 of the modern rock charts (bat country made it to #6) - their self titled album went triple platinum - their first two albums (music & grassroots) have gone gold - transistor went double platinum, sound system, from chaos and their greatest hits all went gold their videos enlarged to show detail #1 went platinum, enlarged to show detail #2 went gold and 311 day went platinum once again I'm not saying a7x is a bad band - but it's idiotic to try and put down 311 or say that they can't measure up to the success of a7x - because no matter how you slice it they have and they've been doing it for a long, long time
  25. I could be wrong, but I think you may have to buy the baseball package to get those games. The channels will be blacked out during games. Again I could be wrong, but if I remember correctly that's how it is. that is right on - if you buy the sports pack they will black out any game that isn't in your local broadcast area and they will only be available with a league pass/center ice type of deal also, it has now spread to some college games that are part of the various college packs you will still get some college games and the local coaches shows, sports desks, team specific shows, etc however, you will not get any of the actual games
