  1. Wondering where all this is going after torching the remnants of fan support... after three previous teardowns? Moving the team ?
  2. You are right but there would be no reason to move him...not gonna get anything for him. I'd leave him out in right field until the rebuild comes to fruition,, with Juan Pierre in left. It's a circus...let's make it official.
  3. But watching Bartolo hit might be the only thing to make me smile, while watching a Marlins game this year.
  4. How can the Marlins not bring back Ichiro, and sign Bartolo ?
  5. Is it true that the new logo depicts a wolverine with a half-eaten marlin in his mouth ?
  6. If Brinson is the new face of the franchise and that month costs him the ROY,it won't be worth it in my book...but I'm sure no one else agrees. yea that's alot of ifs...
  7. Signing Melky Cabrera just to avoid starting the service time clock makes my skin crawl. Teams should not be penalized for putting their best players on the field for the entire season.
  8. JT wants out by ST. If that doesn't happen, he will dig in and do his job. There is no advantage moving forward to be labeled a bad clubhouse guy. I don't think Yelich is a bad guy at all. He just was leveraging his way out of a bad situation.
  9. Yep. Unless the new owners were willing to add some pitching in a buyers market...then i would have loved our chances. it's funny, the Mets looked like they were tearing things down at the trading deadline and now they see the opportunity and are adding. Licking their chops to have 50 games with the Phillies,Braves and Marlins.
  10. Ha. I guess I need to post the question on the Padres forum and get Ron Burgundy to explain it.
  11. I really think second place in the NL East this year, will get you in the wild card hunt. Those teams in the NL West are going to be beating each other up all season now that the Giants have added.
  12. Fair enough, but I like the idea of beating the Braves and Phillies while we can. If these rebuilds are all they are cracked up to be, when are we going to be better than those two teams since they have a head start rebuilding ?
  13. I was looking at the Marlins valuation according to Forbes and noticed the marlins brand was valued at around 60 million. I don't have a clue how the value of the brand is determined. Can anyone help ?
  14. Yep. Did you notice how many top prospects the marlins had prior to the Purge ? Zero. That's how they are rated. With all due respect, you are giving Jeter a longer leash than he deserves, because he is Derek jeter. But don't worry he has everyone else snowed too, from manfred on down.
  15. Me too. Nobody wants to mention that we finished second in the NL East with no pitching. Bad liver and a broken heart.
  16. Not to sidetrack the discussion, but is there anyone worse than Aaron Boone ? I'd rather listen to fingernails on a chalkboard. Is it just me? I may be biased because he came across as an A#1 jackass when he played for the Winston Salem Spirits in the minors, many moons ago along with my least favorite MLB player of all time Julian Tavarez.
  17. Hellickson for sure and even though i can't stand the guy, John Lackey.
  18. Maybe so, but it's also a biased assumption that Derek Jeter is going to usher in an era of sustained winning, for no other reason than he is Derek Jeter. I'm not buying it. Did you know that FanGraphs has the Marlins as the lowest rated front office in the MLB? That's not my bias.
  19. There are 3 kinds of rebuilds; one: with resources and brains (17astros) (16cubs) two: with massive good fortune (2003 Marlins) three: Perpetual Change-there are 10 teams rebuilding right now. they aren't all gonna be be winners. .500 not getting you to playoffs, so what's the point in making that a goal after ripping your team asunder? It's a money grab for the owners when they get paid for losing (revenue sharing). If you are going to rebuild in todays climate, you better start with the best and brightest in your front office. The Marlins don't have that. Sorry.
  20. I like cohesion and chemistry, which I know is outdated and beyond the scope of analytics. Boche's Giants. Tito's Indians.
  21. What do you mean IF ? They have zero chance of reaching last year's win total by 2020, much less contenders. Zero. Did you just chug a glass of the Captain's Koolaid ?
  22. You don't get it. It's not all about the money. Some players place a greater value on trust, friendship and winning. A line has been crossed.
  23. Yep. Getting out is like a jailbreak at this point, for a crime you did not commit.
  24. Sorry about that, chalk it up to the CATHARSIS of a highly annoyed fan and an aversion to PED users. Nothing personal.
  25. You have to be kidding...
