Is there any consensus of the "best" on-line fantasy baseball? I'm looking to get involved for less than $200. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any known links of reliable comparisons? Why would you chose one over the other? Thanks for the help.

I have no problem with them moderately raising ticket prices; the games are a bargain to begin with and I am a partial season ticket holder. The problem however is that, when you raise prices, you better field a competitive team-- not one that is mediocre. The reality of the economics is that if you raise prices and you sell less seats, Loria will be screaming that he is losing more money. I find this all to be a ploy-- maybe Loria's really hoping Selig will force him to sell the team.

Totally disagree. If you want to make money, you need to be looking at the long-term. If you continue to build a team and play competitively, you're going to have a larger and more interested fan-base. This is a form of collateral and it will be needed for financing purposes as well as to support your request for tax incentives from the government. If you don't build a team now and fan support actually decreases, the likelihood of financing a stadium is also going to decrease. The lessons of '98 are very real-- less fans = less $$. Less $$ = greater financing and greater monetary interest. If the team is not going to spend, i.e., field a competitive team, then I wonder whether it's a ploy to justify selling or to threaten to move. Such a ploy, I fear, will backfire. Let's hope they do the smart thing and show they're committed to this team and to getting a new stadium by doing what needs to be done to remain competitive-- even if it means increasing the payroll by $5-7 million.

It would make getting to the playoffs a near-impossibility with Yanks and Red Sox throwing around gazillions of dollars. So, IMHO, that would suck.

Not to mention that attendance was also affected by the Jewish holiday as there are a lot of us who attend games regularly.

Although I think he's an idiot, he does work for ESPN as a contributor to the magazine.

Left field is not nearly as expansive as right field at home; He's got a solid arm (probably attributable to his 3d-base history); His training has him on the left side of the field. He'll be fine; I welcome him coming to left.

I think Lenny would have scored had he run on contact. But, even if it would have been a close play at home, he had to take the chance especially as the team's run production has been so poor and opportunities have been so scarce. I would rather see Lenny tagged out at home than have him left stranded on third.

Frustrating. Very, very frustrating.

No- I'm resigned to the fact that the bullpen, i.e., middle relief, is the weakest part of the team and that it seems like the team is looking internally to find the guy to stop the bleeding, i.e., AAA. So, if the FO is not going to go out and get us another Fox/Ugie, that bullpen weakness is only compounded by the fact that the team, for the most part, is not hitting and not scoring runs. In other words, if the Fish have to tap in to the bullpen for middle relief and aren't hitting, they will blow some leads or, if they're down, they will be down even more. This is the reason I point to Robinson: It seems to me that, in the Braves series, hitters were down 0-2 a lot; there doesn't seem to be any aggression out there when stepping up to the plate. One "good" early inning leads to several innings with one or no hits and very few baserunners. I'm merely suggesting that getting rid of Robinson would be an inexpensive way to perhaps shake things up. At this point, hitting/run production would result in larger leads with more "room" for error in the bullpen. Just a thought; it's been a very frustrating month of June.

With the exception of Benitez and maybe Manzy (and possibly Small?), this bullpen is awful. An awful bullpen + no hitting = recipe for disaster. Maybe the inexpensive way to light a fire under this team is to get rid of Robinson and bring some new "blood" in. What about Andre Dawson??? Perhaps if we could score some meaningful runs the bullpen wouldn't be such an adventure.

With Conine hitting as of late, what was the point of bringing him up? Did management think that if he had a few good ABs he was going to catch some eyes for trade purposes?? While I'm all for bringing up relief, maybe the best thing to do is to fire Bill Robinson just to shake up the team a little bit. With the exception of the Braves' series, this team is just not hitting and it's the lack of runs that is putting such pressure on our middle relief. With the lack of hitting, something's gotta give and it just seems like the person who has to take "responsibility" is Robinson. If the team is not going to go shop for a big-time hitter, then get a new coach to put some life into our hitting. More runs = less reliance on the bullpen. Just my .02 BTW, I like the site; have been reading it for the past few weeks.
