  1. We covered this already in the Chat thread. I can't tell you the page though.
  2. I love Plan 9 From Outer Space! EDIT: Sorry for the random outburst but I had a lot of fun watching this movie for the first time today. Took me long enough. I've been wanting to see it since I saw Ed Wood, which is one my favorite movies.
  3. Great job on the review. Glad you enjoyed it.
  4. Is Prison Break going to be new? Another jaw-dropper: instead of taking a four-month breather following a Dec. 17 "fall finale," Prison Break will take a break after this Monday's airing, then return with new episodes starting Jan. 14. -TVGuide
  5. 'Family Guy' latest strike victim? Macfarlane boycott could delay Fox favorite By JOSEF ADALIAN It could soon be lights out for "Family Guy."Walking the picket line at Wednesday's showrunner rally, creator Seth Macfarlane maintained that this Sunday's episode of "Family Guy" is actually the last fully-produced episode in the can. There are other episodes close to being finished, but Macfarlane has made it clear that he has no plans to help put those segs together. Macfarlane also has another unique bit of leverage: He provides voices for many main characters on the show, and he's made it clear he's not stepping into the studio to record. Couldn't Fox just go ahead and use other non-WGA producers to wrap things up? "They could, but it would be unwise," Macfarlane says. And why would that be? "Because I would be angry," the scribe said. 20th isn't saying what it will do. "Our hope is that he returns to work and completes his non-writing obligations on those episodes," a spokesperson said. Losing "Family Guy" in the middle of the November sweeps would be tough for Fox, which counts the show as its Sunday night anchor. It wouldn't be immediately devastating, however. In a testament to just how strong "Family Guy" is, the show does very well in repeats.
  6. Here's a great montage I found on youtube:
  7. Has Anyone here read No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy? The Coen brothers made a movie adaptation of it that comes out soon that looks fantastic and I was wondering if anyone liked/knew the source material. I'm thinking of buying it off Amazon soon. Finished it today. Some parts are excellent. Chigurh is a badass in the book (I heard he is equally as badass in the movie). I got chills reading some of the stuff he did. The Sheriff Bell character was a drag to read sometimes. It's a very fast read and I recommend it. Can't wait to see what the Coens do with this. The book in many ways feels like a movie. I'll let you judge that one by yourself. Money. Drugs. Deaths. Chigurh. It's excellent. Very fast, not quite as affecting as Blood Meridian turned out to be, but, still, great stuff. Ed Tom Bell was the moral center of the book and is THE vital character to the story. I guess we just interpreted it differently. It's something you can read a few times. I loved it. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « You didn't feel that that dialogue towards Ed Tom and Ellis towards at the end felt a little forced? I could done without that chapter and still come out with the same conclusion. I don't know. I would have wanted more shoot 'em up action than the obligatory morality tale on our changing society.
  8. Blood Simple never held up on subsequent viewings for me. What's your favorite Coen film, penguino?
  9. Over the past few months and overall in the past year I feel I've been watching way too many current releases and I have neglected older films mainly because of my love of my widescreen TV and high definition technology. So I'm forcing myself to watch two of my favorite writer and directors going - Joel and Ethan Coen - entire directorial filmography. I've seen and own 5 of their 12 films and one is set to be released in theaters this weekend. So I made this thread to post my thoughts and review each of the films after I watch them in chronological order. I was hoping after I watch them others could chime in with their thoughts/feelings/review of the film if they want (Please spoiler text if you choose to discuss plot details). Coen Brothers Filmography Blood Simple (11/6) Raising Arizona Miller's Crossing Barton Fink The Hudsucker Proxy Fargo The Big Lebowski O Brother, Where Art Thou? The Man Who Wasn't There Intolerable Cruelty The Ladykillers No Country For Old Men I plan on watching Blood Simple tonight and posting my views on it tomorrow. :thumbup Wow. You and me have this incredible timing sometimes. It's pretty scary. For the past two weeks I've been watching their whole library of films to prepare for my presentation (which I just came from today). Blood Simple is my absolute favorite. It's the most effective neo-noir I've seen to date and one of my favorite movies of all time. I saw it a second time right afterwards. Frances McDormand was strangly attractive in the movie as well. From previous posts I believe the ones you've seen are: Raising Arizona Barton Fink Fargo The Big Lebowski Miller's Crossing? I really like Hudsucker although many people do not care for it. Their studio films (Brother, Cruelty, Ladykillers) are of lesser quality I think. O Brother being the best of that bunch. After seeing their all their films again, I have more of an appreciation for Lebowski and Fargo, which I previously didn't think as highly of before. If you want more information I can give it to you. I just did a 20 minute presentation on them. :lol I also read NCFOM, and my thoughts are on the Book Thread,
  10. I'm indifferent towards this. I can see its benefits but I'd rather see the umpires make judgment calls. It's just part of the game.
  11. We're still giving aid to Pakistan. We may disagree with the policy that their government put in place. That doesn't make us enemies or a threat to our nation. If they were to collapse (which would be extremely difficult as the U.S. and other countries would likely get involved), then there would be a need for this thread.

  13. Happy Birthday Admin!
  14. Brolin is having one heck of a year. He's the lead in the upcoming movie No Country For Old Men and that movie is going to make him a household name. Speaking of NCFOM, I just read the book. If its anything like the book then it should be one hell of a movie.
  15. I would like to see Jimmy Kimmel wing it tonight.
  16. I hope to see it soon but I'd like to see two movies before AG. They're in very limited release atm and will probably disappear soon (Into The Wild, Lars and the Real Girl).
  17. Yeah, this season was no different than any other for me too. Talk about Karma biting you in the ass... or in this case an ass bit you in the ass. I'm rooting for TK & Rachel and the asian father/daughter team.
  18. Much needed :bump Made $16 mil yesterday.
  19. now here's another interesting question...will nbc start airing nhl games on weeknights to fill in the primetime gap if the strike lasts through new years? it's better than reruns forever. Reality Shows.
  20. Drew Carey hasn't really been doing much lately. He had a game show that was on over the summer, but I think it was cancelled. Yeah, he is only on TV everyday nationally for a hour. I forgot about the Price is Right, primarily because I am busy with other things than watching TV at that time of day. Rosie left The View. Merv Griffin is dead. There, you're all caught up. I have actually read parts of the Victor Davis Hanson's book. It's a little far-fetched and quite repetitive.
  21. Gone Baby Gone 5/10 I just don't understand critics sometimes. 92% on RT is a suprise. Michael Clayton 9/10 Excellent. Don't waste time trying to understand the convoluted plot. It'll all come to you in the end. Has a really great ending and powerful acting performances. Tilda Swinton being the best, imo. One of the best movies of the year and the best ending I've seen in a while.
  22. She's definitely a classic hottie.
  23. Caught the last 40 minutes of Spartacus. Later caught myself fantasizing about Liz Taylor. but... she's not in Spartacus. :o That's an awful hold she has over you.
  24. Happy Birthday :cheers
  25. I can't for the life of me understand why any Marlins fan would want Girardi to fall flat on his face. Disliking someone and wishing someone failure are two different things. Not always. But in this case, I'm going to have to agree with you. I hope he does well. He has enormous shoes to fill.
