1. You been to any Nats home games yet? Their fans are not exactly warm. 837541 Yeah I went to one. They are very friendly people. I had a great time, Nats won 1-0 over the Brewers. Great pitchers dual. This was back before anyone thought the Nats would be any sort of threat in the division.
2. Why did everyone on this board hate Enc so much before his 10/10? 837498 WRONG! I have never been against Enc. I have always been on his side. 837506 Sorry, I never accused you personally. But the general atmosphere on this board is anti-enc 837520 There was a little while there where he was swinging at AWFUL pitches, like literarily in the dirt. He was missing badly and looking REALLY bad at the plate. He got benched for that, and he started throwing hissy fits and acting like a total douche bag, which is where he dropped the ball, at least for me. Thats when I really started hating him - he's all about himself and I don't think he really cares about the team or winning. Which is why he earned the nickname "Encanceracion". Recently hes been hitting the first pitch pretty well. A lot of his hits during this hot streak have been swinging at the first pitch, and those hits weren't dropping when he wasn't so hot. All this coupled w/ the fact that sometimes he plays downright shoddy defense in RF w/ no hussle is why some people, including me, don't like him very much. 837527 Yeah, he does have an attitude problem. he didn't show up to the Marlins victory parade in 03 because Jack benched him during the series. However, the vibe I have been getting has not been one that makes me believe they hate enc for his attitude or whatever, but rather the type of player he is. He's an up and down player yes, but he upside is much more significant than his downside IMO. The only way I would agree to trading him is if we can get someone better (obviously), aka Sheffield.
3. I don't think the Marlins need to be making any trades. They just need to wake up and play to their potential, which it looks like they are starting to do. Let's keep it up fish!

5. I remember that game too. Dunno who it was against.
6. The cost of living in South Florida is insane. Most people don't realize that.

Nats just scored on a Sac Fly.. now it's 2-0. They are the pure definition of a National League team. They use a lot of sacrifices and manifacture runs any way they can. Then they play great defense. BUT The CUBBIES are gonna come back!!!!
10. I hope Dontrelle gets this win for #13. I do NOT wannna see Livan starting in the All-Star game
11. This is certainly not the first time they have had great pitching, great defense, stolen bases leading to manifactured runs this season. Although I agree, hopefully they can keep building on this. Even though we lost yesterday, we scored 6 runs. We have scored at least that in the last 4 games.
12. He should be the permanent #5 hitter for the rest of the year.? Cabrera - 16HR 59RBI, Delgado - 15HR 57 RBI, Encarnacion - 11HR 45RBI I say keep him, lol. 837052 Its not only his numbers, no matter how inconsistent he might be, Delgado hits way better with Enc behind him than Lowell. I just think Duke should take the 5th spot becuz hes more of a contact hitter that doesnt strike out as much as Enc. Move Encer to the 6th spot and Mikey to 7. 837058 Well, we'll see what McKeon does with tomorrow's lineup since Lo Duca will probably start.
13. Nuff' huh? lol Good to see Mota back. 837062 I agree. I was getting frustrated with Mota giving up at least 2-3 runs every outing. Glad he's finally performing!
14. I'm looking forward to this
15. 1 pitch. He's ready to go tomorrow.
16. Wow, that's pretty damn good. Imagine if it was his 1,500 straight game with a hit? LOL
17. He should be the permanent #5 hitter for the rest of the year. Cabrera - 16HR 59RBI, Delgado - 15HR 57 RBI, Encarnacion - 11HR 45RBI I say keep him, lol.
18. You can always put a game behind you during the season.
19. ah mixed feelings. I love Al. He's such a classy guy but Mike Lowell is also a nice classy guy, it's about what wins I guess. poor Al 836394 Dave Wannstedt was a nice classy guy. Thank god he's gone!!!
20. I think Lowell can fend for himself. lol
21. I am too. Finally McKeon does something this board has been rallying for. Now about Mike Lowell, Jack........
22. Well the good thing about baseball is it's already tomorrow and there's a brand new game tonight that the FISH are gonna WIN!!!
23. NEW YORK -- The Florida Marlins are leaning toward skipping struggling left-hander Al Leiter's next turn in the rotation in favor of rookie Scott Olsen. Marlins manager Jack McKeon said Friday before Florida played the New York Mets that he was considering giving Olsen his second career start Monday against Milwaukee. "I understand," Leiter said Friday night, after the Mets beat the Marlins 7-6. "I haven't pulled my share. I haven't done my job consistently enough, and that's what happens." Leiter, who signed a one-year, $8 million contract in the offseason to return to the team he helped lead to the World Series title in 1997, has been ineffective. He is 3-6 in 15 starts with a 6.45 ERA this season. "I didn't expect this at all, knowing what I'd seen of him in the past," McKeon said. "I thought he'd be a guy who'd win 12 to 14 games for us." Leiter went 10-8 with a 3.21 ERA last season for the Mets and is 158-126 in his 19-year career. Still, McKeon remains optimistic the Leiter can turn things around. "Maybe this is just the ticket he needs to get out there and relax ... polish up a few things and the key we need for the second half." The 21-year-old Olsen has made two appearances for the Marlins this season, and has impressed McKeon. "He pitched a hell of a game and certainly deserved some more opportunities," McKeon said. "He did a pretty good job (Thursday). He got four key outs." On Thursday, Olsen gave up two runs in 1 1-3 innings against Atlanta. And on June 25, he made a spot start for the injured Josh Beckett against Tampa Bay, allowing two runs -- one earned -- and four hits in 5 2-3 innings and earning his first big league win. The left-hander has a 3.86 ERA in seven innings. "I like his poise," McKeon said. "I like the way he commands the strike zone." McKeon will make his final decision in the next couple days. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=mlb&id=2099165
