  1. Hey nobody WANTS to trade Castillo Arnie. We all love him, no question. I wish they had signed him to a long-term deal a season ago. But that doesn't happen with this team. This is their policy, so they have to live with their decisions. To have any chance of keeping Lowell, Castillo has to go, & probably Lee also. Hotcorner, We have no disagreement. I'm just suggesting developing our own and not playing Fantasy Baseball by the season or trading for others' discards.
  2. Talk about "what have you done for me lately," Castillo belongs in the Marlins Hall of Fame. Maybe it's (financially) inevitable to trade him now (for a pitcher or two). Fox and Mordecai can handle 2nd base for the rest of this sason. Meanwhile, I'd like to see us spending more time (and money) developing our own prospects, not wheeling and dealing for others' discards. And I'd like to see Stratton ready to play first base in September.
  3. Will Pudge DH today? Anyone know for sure? I would have DH'd him at least 2 of the BoSox games. I want to see Castro (and Redmond). Maybe being "picky" but I think McKeon does an inadequate job keeping his bench players sharp. That includes Mordecai and Fox. Banks gets some time. H-worth I don't care about anymore.
  4. Got home just as the game started last night. Freaked when I saw Pudge was catching and H-worth DH. I expected Pudge DH and Castro or Redmond behind the plate. Oh well, in the great scheme of things, it didn't make any difference. Tonight, our guys will dig in and we'll win (maybe not by much). Still would like to see more attention to developing our minor leaguers and less obsession with late July trade posssibilities. Like to see Stratton at first base in September. But, he needs help now for God's Sakes! Meanwhile, "Let's Play Two Today!"

Really interesting stuff... learned a lot. Thanks. (Still unsettled that our major topic has been trade deadlines and re-creating the future. "Let's play two today.")
  6. Good baseball talk the last few days. Looking forward to learning more.
  7. Appreciate the up-date. Thought your Hialeah RaceTrack suggestion had good merit.
  8. Good for you! Try to find Minirvini. He could use you. Hope we kick the crap out of the BoSox but also hope Millar goes 5 for 5. (He's hitting 316 now, does best as a player not a DH).
  9. Used all my AL 25 votes for Jeff Conine (out of loyaltyand respect for Mr. Marlin). And though the re-acquisition of Conine has a nice Darren Daulton ring to it (and would please many fans temporarilly), I don't think it gets us ahead. I am still counting on D. Lee's customary second half rally (but getting disillusioned). Would rather take a couple bucks and send a SQUAD of so-called hitting instructors to help Stratton with his K's and a few first-base instructors... then bring him up in September and try him at first base.
  10. Give us at least a day's notice before you call Hank Goldberg. We'll set up bets on how many seconds it will last. (Hate that arrogant SOB)
  11. A thread with about 37 entries is on the Red Sox Official Site Fan Forum. Interesting to see how many BoSox fans are nervous about this series with the Marlins. Of course, they had their share of cocky a-holes. In response to a bragging apparent (imposter, I think) Marlins fan, one of our members wrote a very nice (e.g. polite and mature) note inviting BoSox fans to chat with us on our forum. Gave this address.
  12. It was mentioned by a fan in Marlins Official site Fan Forum.
  13. We found an appropriate female winner for our contest! (See this a.m. posting) Should start next century off on a good foot (and mattress). Today, Chat Room will be open from at least 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Always open 24/7 to Members). Might well focus on D. Lee posture. There's been a good, passionate and lenghty thread today. Chat Room is for talking baseball.
  14. Today's highly awaited Chat Room Ladies Day has been postponed because the chosen prize Bahamas VIP Suite has already been booked by our Webmaster for the 21st birthday of his great grandson. Shucks, We'll try again. Yesterday's Room was mediocre, at best. Nine or so in and out, mostly out. Seemed like most were struggling with the mid-week hump. A few very knowledgeable fans talked more about their social lives, not too much baseball. The Room is yours. You have the Key. The Room is ours, and we are wasting it.
  15. Really enjoyed reading the highly warranted attacks on Mr. Arrogance, Hank Goldberg. I used to be, years ago, a big WQAM listener. Then I got sick (and I mean sick!) of Hank Goldberg, so I shut off QAM when he came on. Then they added the "shock jock." They have the right, they're in business and apparently he generates business (which doesn't say much for the Miami community, but, that's not my business.) Then, finally, what little was left was mostly football (and some basketball) and vigourous bashing of the Marlins. I listen now to QAM for Boog and Van Horne's play-by-play. I mute the TV. I don't need TV announcers who are more interested in being entertaining personalities than calling the game. I grew up with Red Barber, Mel Allen, Vin Scully, etc. Boog and Van Horne do a nice job.
  16. huh yo need to earn your spot to be in the chat room?Of this board or another site? Was that supposed to be criticism? I'm just a member trying to revitalize some interest in the Chat Room. Sorry you haven't tried it out, or tried to support it recently. Maybe my humor "Two Seats Left" wasn't funny to you. Or did you object to "no shoes or shirts required." In any evenyt, your positive suggestions on how to generate some interest in the Chat Room (for baseball talk) will be appreciated.
  17. First come first served. Shoes and shirts not required. But, a modicum of decency and respect is always in order.
  18. Fish Fillet, Thanks for the Star-Ledger re-print of the Dan Graziano article. Graziano was the outstanding baseball writer for The Palm Beach Post. And he always considerately answered my e-mails. He is missed. I think it's good we follow these young writers. Glad to learn where he is now. He's going to move-up again.
  19. Yesterday afternoon Chat Room was fun, exciting, and even informative! Thanks mostly to a "veteran" member who apparently made some phone calls and within minutes had about about ten members in The Room. We had one jerk who was irresponsibly vulgar. Several members put him in his place. It was neat to see members taking responsibility for monitoring Our Room. It was suggested that afternoon pre-game Chat would be fun. (Most logged-out about 6:30 p.m. in favor of our main line or pre-game media coverage.) For those of us new and perhaps visually impaired by age (!), there is a tiny Chat Room box in the upper right hand corner of the main page.
  20. Derrick Lee
  21. Marlins "Official" site notes that Cabreras first four major league hits were (in order) a Home Run, Triple, Single, Double. Of course, it took four games for the Cycle. Should be special dispensation!
  22. Having, with good membership help, and better Walgreens glasses, discovered the little Chat box in the upper right hand corner... it's fun to find another Marlins fan there. I am really "wired" about this Mets series. I want to wipe them up big time. And we can.
  23. Give Stratton a chance to grow. And, hopefully, a decent hitting instructor. Don't stagnate him on the bench as a back-up and PH. But, for God's sakes get somebody good to work with him in AAA.
  24. Arnie... I know there is a chat room for the site, its in teh upper right hand corner... Check that out first, since its already set up... But go ahead and contact Admin as well since he is the grand wizard of this site as well. Thank you! I may have to replace my $7 Walgreens reading glasses. I never saw the little "Chat" box. Still nobody there but at least I have the "key" now!
