Nasty remarks towards Rich and Tommy
Rumor suggests that Rich won't be back next season That's a shame.....this would be the 4th time we've lost someone. I guess I can't blame them, who wants to do games in front of 2,000 a night.

Orange Bowl
If only we could get a few of those people to go to the games. :mad True...as last Saturday nite showed, there is an audience there.

Orange Bowl
The Marlins' average attendance is very close to the Panthers, which is sad considering baseball games typically have far larger crowds than hockey. But the TV audience is 3 or 4 times that of the Panthers. I don't know if the Panthers even get a 1.0 Neilsen rating, which is just better than most informercials get in the middle of the night. I think the Marlins actually rank somewhere like 14th in TV viewership out of 30 teams, which is remarkable.

Any chance of Perry Hill coming back ?
We need him badly. I love Andy Fox but he seems to be in over his head. Bad fielding has cost us at least 15 wins this year.

Benitez = Julio
To be clear, I'm much angrier about him showing up a teammate on the field. Thast just something you dont do. :thumbup

welcome to bad news bear club
It seems like in this season each game has at least one moment where it would be appropriate to play the Pright Is Right "Lose" Song. :lol :lol :lol

Nasty remarks towards Rich and Tommy
Seattle does have a good bunch of announcers who rotate every few innings between radio & TV....Rich Waltz used to be one of them....but Dave Niehaus is Mr. Mariner. Rich & Tommy are top 5 easily in MLB for TV Crews. Another noteworthy crew is Arizona with Daron Sutton & Mark Grace. Vin Scully when he flies solo in Los Angeles is excellent. Kuiper & Krukow on FSN Bay Area for the Giants are pretty good. Mr Neihaus has one of the most distinctive voices in all of broadcasting. Listening to him is a trip back in time to the great announcers of the 50's & 60's. I look at a lot of Seattle games just to hear him. And I have to admit, that Mark Grace is one hell of a good colour guy. I had my doubts about him, but he has proven to be pretty good, and funny as hell at times. And I would agree Rich & Tommy are top 5......we have been blessed with good announcers. Staats with the Rays can be good and then bad.....so he evens himself out. I would have replaced Magraine myself by now, as he is a big waste of space, and perhaps Dwayne Staats would come off better with a better colour man.

Nasty remarks towards Rich and Tommy
I like the Marlins' announcers. The Nats and Orioles have brutal guys in their booths if you ask me. Especially the Nats....just bad. When I see one of their games I just have to turn the volume down completely.

Nasty remarks towards Rich and Tommy
An announcer being a homer really isn't a bad thing. If many of you guys have MLB Extra Innings you'd realize how good our guys really are. The only ones I like better than Tommy & Rich are the Seattle guys. The worst are the Nationals announcers.....just putrid. And Tommy and Rich are no more homers than any of the other broadcasting crews.

Bowl's loss may be Marlins Gain
Sounds hopeful......now its up to Loria. We'll see what his real intentions are now that he has been cornered.
-
Orange Bowl
They aren't going to, because Jeffrey Loria and Bud Selig hate Florida. OMGOMGOMGOGMGO Now Loria has no excuse.....there will be a site available. Lets see how he squirms out of this one, in his quest to never get a stadium.
-
Orange Bowl
Hialeah, downtown Miami or the Orange Bowl site......who cares, just build the damn stadium !
-
Orange Bowl
Welcome to the South buddy. In S. Florida it's Canes over everyone. Huh ???? Dude you need to get a clue.....Dolphins rule over EVERYTHING. Canes 2nd, and then the Heat. The Marlins are 4th and Panthers a distant 6th. I would say Gators and Noles come before even the Panthers. Have you listened to local radio here ? If you have you'd know the pecking order.

Orange Bowl
Ok so let me start by saying that I'm not looking for 100 thats a stupid idea posts. It boils down to the idea that im bored and this seems like a creative but farfetched solution to a stadium. It goes like this....everyone has been saying that the Hurricanes are possibly going to move out of the orange bowl and into DS sometime soon. That and the site for a new Marlins stadium would be possibly built near the OB. Now im from out of state and only get the news of stadium talk either on marlins.com or here. I would love nothing more to see my marlins playing in a baseball only stadium and hate seeing those hopes crushed by the fla legislature. Also I have never been inside the OB so im not sure what kind of condition it is in or whether it can be fitted for baseball. But the way I see it instead of building a new stadium on a new site why not take the OB and the 350 some odd million dollars that would be devoted and use that to a total renovation complete with luxury suites and such. the way i see you could save a lot of money buy already having an existing structure set up. Plus I think that any new marlins stadium should come with the teal monster. On idea alone not practicality i think its a pretty good idea. thoughts? Even if they bulldozed the OB and somehow teleported Camden Yards into the site, it is a horrible spot for a baseball stadium I worked 5 minutes from the staduim and hated the traffic, and surrounding areas. I can't think of the nightmare to having 81 games a year there, Parking is inaccesable and public transport options are extremely limited. The OB is the perfect site not to put a baseball stadium the infamous "infrastructure" clause can be used to improve access. So it could possibly work.

Marlins not a draw on the road either
Is it sad that 30,900ish sounds like a huge attendance number? Actually, historically it is.......only in the last 10 years has having more than 2 million in attendace become the norm.
-
Marlins not a draw on the road either
So this MLB-Loria conspiracy is league-wide. I wouldn't put it past him.... :shifty
-
Marlins not a draw on the road either
It's kinda surprising that we draw more on the road than the Dodgers. That's what surprised me too.....flabbergasted even. I thought it might be the Reds or Pirates.
-
Marlins not a draw on the road either
Only Washington, and surprisingly the Dodgers draw less on average when the Marlins are on the road. So its not just Marlins fans that don't go to see the Fish, but apparently fans of other teams don't think the Marlins are worthy of seeing. NL away attendance 1st Chicago Cubs 36,418 .... 14th Florida Marlins 30,951 15th LA Dodgers 30,944 16th Washington 30,150

Fredi is really NOT a good manager,or even close to it.
And your point is?The team is playing like crap.I mean, getting swept by the putrid Giants is about as low as you can get_at this pace they could end the season at 20 or more under .500. And of course everyone poo-poo'd me 3 or 4 weeks ago when I said we'd finish behind Washington. Anyone want to still believe we'll finish above them ? It's looking bleaker & bleaker for this franchise.

:-|
Glad it's bottoming out in August. Force a change, maybe even force the hand with a few callups. I doubt that, it might mean that they lose some time before arbitration. Loria doesn't want that, it might cost him a few thousand. :confused

Always have to re-log in?
Same here. Everytime I come to the site I have to log on, but if I reply to a topic I have posted in, and use the link provided in the email, I am logged-in. Very strange, as it never happens to me at any other site.

Top pick Dominguez signs for 1.8 million
So what happens if these guys don't sign? They all get signed by the Yankees? Or do they have to wait a year and enter next year's draft? (I'm guessing it's this one) The HS guys can play a year of JC and then reenter or go to college and then enter again in three years. The college guys just reenter next year. Also it should be noted that this year a new rule was established where if you do not sign your draft pick, you get the same pick in next years draft. So for instance if the Drays do not sign Price they would get the #1 overall pick in the 2008 draft. We would get the #12 pick next year, but everything I have read so far makes me believe we will definitely sign Dominguez. I'm not worried. Well the draft order has to be a 12a & a 12b....which gets precedence ? The team with the 12th position after this year or our 12th pick from last year ? What happens if you don't sign a guy with you compensation pick from the year before ? Do you get another pick the next year ?
