The Official Giancarlo Stanton Man Crush Thread
Apparently since the start of the expansion era in 1961, the only other player under age 23 who hit more homers and RBIs in a single month was Bob Horner in 1980. Also, most HRs before age 23 since then: 1. Alex Rodriguez 106 2. Tony Conigliaro 104 3. Bob Horner 91 4. Ken Griffey Jr 87 Johnny Bench 87 5. Andruw Jones 80 6. Boog Powell 79 7. Miguel Cabrera 78 8. Juan Gonzalez 75 9. Albert Pujols 71 10. Giancarlo Stanton 69 Jose Canseco 69 Ruben Sierra 69 12. Cesar Cedeno 64 13. Justin Upton 60 14. Cal Ripken Jr 55 Adrian Beltre 55 15. Eddie Murray 54 Pretty damn good company. And he still has 6 months to go. If he can catch Griffey and Bench, that would be spectacular. surely he will. I think he'll be sitting at 3 on that list. Stantons a beast among men, he'll get to 1st on that list. Easily.

Looking forward through June
The Orioles, Red Sox, and Blue Jays are all heavy hitters, but have sub-par pitching. Our pitching staff is one of the better ones in the game right now, so hopefully we can contain them. Our bats are aroung the middle of the pack. If we can stay consistent, I like our chances there. The Rays, I think are a fairly balanced team, could go either way. Braves, and Cardinals - depends on which Braves and Cardinals show up... Brewers and Philly, I'm not too worried about. I think we "should" go 22-12, but probably 20-14 or 19-15 is more like it. How are there 34 games in June?

This morning's Herald....
I can't stand it when I have to kick someone out of my seat. It's really gay when you sit in a seat you didn't pay for. Tough. I even asked someone to move from a seat I didn't pay for. If you have balls, you'll do it too.

5/30 Post Game
How are they gonna come at our players like that when they have BRYCE HARPER on their team? He's not just the biggest dousche in baseball, but possibly on the face of the planet. Relax with that, he's calmed down a ton. I mean a TON. At this point, it mostly seems to be jealousy with most people calling Harper a douche. He's done nothing wrong since being up in the Majors, unless running out every ball and playing 100% regardless of situation constitutes a douche. However, they did have Nyjer Morgan. Please watch the E:60 they did on him a while back. I'm sure it will change your opinion. HE WAS SIXTEEN Or 17, whichever, regardless he's matured a f***ton. You can not tell me you were fully mature at that age, receiving 1/100,000th of the attention he did. Umm, you havent matured when you go into the dugout, swing the bat into a wall because your mad, then bust open your face to the tune of 10 stiches when it bounces back. Everyone knows you hit things that will go flying AWAY from you, not something that will stay there and say "f*** you this space is mine"

This morning's Herald....
It does look pretty crappy in the cheap seats. Yes. It does. So disappointing to see the marlins missing out on $3000 up there. (stubhub had those for 3 a seat on Saturday). Then again, why would anyone really sit all the way up there, you can't see the Bullpen seats or bud bar but those were pretty packed too. Upper deck seems to be a get in the door and find a place to watch the game ticket. How strictly are they enforcing the seats. I have cheap seats for that sat Blue jays game. Not that bad. Text me, I'll let you know where I sat today. I bought a upper deck 5 or 6 game pack, and haven't sat in them yet. Today was the last game. Went to opening day against the Cards, Cubs, Pirates, Rockies, Giants and Nats so far. Ushers check, but if your not being a dick or not in a really expensive seat they wont bother you.

Keeping up with ex-Marlins
Kurt Abbott, retired Marlin turned Sheriff Deputy arrested for DWI. Had a lot of respect for him before this. Capozzi posted a link on twitter. Wow, that is shocking. Just goes to show it can happen even to the best of us. Hopefully he just gets desk duty and doesn't lose his job. He's dont alot for the broward community if I recall.

John Buck vs. Brett Hayes
For once I have done SOME research. Hayes is a part of the issue in my mind. Bell seems to be okay during his actual completed saves since Buck seems to be behind the plate. With Hayes back there, we have 4/8 meltdown Blown Save Loss against CIN 4/14 BS L vs Hou 4/26 BS L vs NYM 5/13 BS 2ER Win vs NYM And with Buck we have from what I saw 5/25 1/3 inning hold 5/26 Hold I think bucks relaying to Ozzie when bell does and doesn't have it. That's just what I've seen. My worst Nightmare now is Bell/ Hayes pitching battery From what I saw Bucks caught the majority of Bells saves this year. Or maybe Buck has nothing to do with that and the reason Ozzie's pulled Bell is because the two under Buck are the most recent and we've already seen Bell f*** it up enough times. Show me with statistics. Don't tell me with hyperbole. That's something that doesn't really need stats ... Yes, it does. The facts prove that Hayes cannot call a decent inning for Bell and doesn't understand his pitchers strengths and weaknesses. Thats' where a veteren catcher comes in handy. I do not believe Bell has blown a save with Buck behind the plate- be it by blind luck or gulliens yankings.

John Buck vs. Brett Hayes
Alot can be said for the way a catcher can manage a game from behind the plate and with his pitch selections. I had that conversation with Buck and Baker last spring. Both admired how well Piazza called a game and made an impact on it that wasn't seen by many or made an impact on his offensive stats. That's why buck is valuable. If he can call the right pitch at the right time and notice when his pitcher has the right command of his stuff, he's been utilizing it. Nothing ive seen of Hayes suggests he has the ability to control a game when he goes 0-5 with 2 K's. Buck has. And I respect him for it.

To add to one thing. Since Inter league is going to be year round, there will be a strong chance a Pennant Race will be decided in the final week since a AL team WILL HAVE TO play an NL team. I can really see the AL having the DH follow them into the NL Parks to make sure a Pennant Race isn't decided with a pitcher with a bat in his hand.

If we had the DH, sure, Dunn would be fine. We don't have the DH, I'd rather not go from a good-almost great defender at first base in Gaby Sanchez [and LoMo ain't bad at first, either] to total crap just because he can swing a bat with power. The team has enough power as it is, just need to be able to get it going. LoMo at just 3 homers, that number is gonna go up, and soon. Hanley has 7, that'll keep going up. I know he hasn't hit one since Pittsburgh was here, but he'll pick it back up. We don't need another power bat, especially another power bat that Ks that much and can't play defense. Next season we'll have the DH year round. Players like Dunn and Morneau could fill in there for a bit. Then platoon when in an NL park at 1B with a better defensive 1B (Late game defensive replacements) Well, if things stay the way they are as far as rules go, we'll only have the DH in 1/4 of our games. Half of our games will be against NL opponents, I'd imagine, and the other half against the AL, half of THOSE will be at home, eliminating the DH. I also have a feeling we'll see some rule changes next year. I wouldn't be surprised to see teams voting on the DH in the NL soon. Or atleast figuring out how to allow the DH in some series. Possibly a DH vs All AL teams in NL parks or something.

Arbitration buyout - Stanton
Judging by the past mistakes, fire sales, and stupid decisions that the organization has made, I still say they will wait until they can trade him for a few draft picks when arbitration comes around, or they will simply wait so long that Giancarlo will become unaffordable, and make his way to the NY Yankees or the Phillies instead. I want Giancarlo to be down in Miami for another 8 seasons (the best years of his remaining career), and I hope the Miami Marlins prove me wrong and show us that they are different this time around....but if you've been a Marlins fan since the early 1990's, you've seen enough stupid and boneheaded moves (and too many fire sales.) Did this past off season not happen? What more do you people need?

Justin Morneau
Then why even bring them up? It seems kind of silly to me to involve literally worthless players in hypothetical trade talks. What makes you think the Twins would even be interested in Mattison and Skipworth? Lets say I felt a tingle in my pants, and it made me very happy.

Id love Morneau and think he would fit perfectly in Miami. Don't know how much he would cost, but anything reasonable I would be all for. A lineup of Reyes, Infante, Hanley, Stanton, Morneau, Morrison, Boni, Buck, P sounds amazing Morneu costs the club roughly 14 million a year until 2014 I believe, plus whatever assests the Marlins may be trading. I couldn't imagine the Twins pitching coin in to cover some of Morneau Salary, so lets assume we're taking the entire 14 Mil unless we offer a top prospect like Yelich. I also see us having to send Mathison, and possibly Skipworth. Mattison and Skipworth have like no value. Neither did Badenhop and Rabelo. But we asked for them as throw in. The Twins may see little risk, big reward for them both. Mattison already made the big leagues, Skipworth may give them organizational depth at a position they'll need soon.

We all know the Marlins would like some pop in their lineup, and the Twins may be looking to shed payroll before the year is out. MLBTraderumors mentioned today the Twins will like to open up 1B for Joe Mauer long term and may be looking to move the Former AL MVP. Who thinks the Marlins may take a run at him, and what do you think it would take? I can see us having to include possibly Gaby in the package (we may want that as well), but who else may go? Per our favorite jumping point... Discuss.
