  1. We don't need any more pissing contests, guys. Right. I may not have a law degree, but I'm not far off. In this instance I was reguritating one of my professors rants about the case, who was a well known prosecutor and now tries immigration cases against the US. If you think you know better then him- figure out who he is and take him to court to call it drivel.
  2. What alot of us fail to realize is that the "Stand your ground" law simply says you can meet force with force, including deadly force. It doesn't say meet deadly force with force. It allows Force to be met with Deadly force. If you hit me with a paper ball from 20 feet away, I can legally pull out a gun and shoot you dead on the spot. Legally. No. But don't let the facts get in the way of this, or the rest of your drivel. Do yourself a favor and go read up on the laws. Here, I'll even help: 776.012 Use of force in defense of person.—A person is justified in using force, except deadly force, against another when and to the extent that the person reasonably believes that such conduct is necessary to defend himself or herself or another against the other’s imminent use of unlawful force. However, a person is justified in the use of deadly force and does not have a duty to retreat if: (1) He or she reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony; Way to come off as completely unknowledgeable. Anyway, what this case hinges on will be this part of the law: 776.041 Use of force by aggressor.—The justification described in the preceding sections of this chapter is not available to a person who: (1) Is attempting to commit, committing, or escaping after the commission of, a forcible felony; or (2) Initially provokes the use of force against himself or herself, unless: (a) Such force is so great that the person reasonably believes that he or she is in imminent danger of death or great bodily harm and that he or she has exhausted every reasonable means to escape such danger other than the use of force which is likely to cause death or great bodily harm to the assailant; or (b) In good faith, the person withdraws from physical contact with the assailant and indicates clearly to the assailant that he or she desires to withdraw and terminate the use of force, but the assailant continues or resumes the use of force. Zimmerman will be painted as an aggressor by the prosecution for going against what the police told him to do. And then they will try to prove that Zimmerman did not try every reasonable means of escape from the altercation. Really, Go Blank yourself. The law says force with force. If you feel you are in danger of dying from that Paper ball, your allowed to use deadly force. What the letter of the law is so broad it works that way.
  3. I dont know what to think of this cat, Zimmerman now. Hes now coming out saying the Police department was racist and that he complained at a town meeting in 2011 about them not doing anything about a white man beating up a black man. . I dont know the internal details are of the thing but kind of sound like thats something his defense is trying to use to take the racial tension off of Zimmerman, while making the PD looks as if their investigation was tarnished. I don't think thats their motive. Everything related to the case has been discussed at length in the media, including the assertation that he is racist. At trial court the potential jurors all will have heard of the case, and will know most of the important details. During the trial unless the prosecutor asserts that Zimmerman was racist (which is what was HEAVILY publicized in the media) the defense can't or shouldn't be able to bring it up. Their only chance to fight that assertion is to "pollute" the jury pool themselves and fight the trial at first in the press. Once the case is set for trial a gag order should be in place by the Trial Judge, ceasing all the media battles that have been popping up to shape his "Non-Racist" Character. (Atleast this is what his Lawyer should be doing if he's worth his weight. Although unconventional, it wouldn't be the first case presented in front of the jury first) Not to mention the Jury is almost assured to be sequestered, which means they can't look up any facts outside of whats provided to them. I'm sure you know most of this, and some of what I said may be off- but there might be others here who have the same questions. They should really just drop the charges and pay for him and his immediate family to relocate to another country. I hear Canada's beautiful 2 months out of the year .
  4. No, but you have to consider how a jury interprets it - Trayvon goes from being perceived as a nice kid to a pot smoking hoodlum - accurate or not. However, it still doesn't speak to whether Zimmerman used necessary force or not, which is where the outcome of the case hangs. Only if it comes into evidence. I'm not familiar with those rules, but it seems irrelevant and prejudicial such that a judge might say it's inadmissible. It's admissible if your trying to paint a picture of him as a suspicious and as a outsider to the neighborhood. Especially once the prosecutor tries to say Zimmerman made a point to follow him, it opens the flood gates to Zimmermans defense they felt child was more then likely up to no good and then calls attention his character and acts prior to the crime to prove his theory correct. If the prosecutor wants to avoid the THC, more then likely he'll have to ignore why Zimmerman was attacked and question solely the attack itself as unlawful and unnessesary. Which will be hard given the injuries. His best case scenario? Him and his entire family go into Witness Protection and are never heard from again. His worst case scenario? He has to defend himself in court and then face the music much like Casey Anthony did. Legally. Ethically is another question. Until the law is changed to say "Deadly Force with Deadly Force, and Force with Force" anyone from this point further will fail to be convicted. I can also see a nightmare ensuing. The case goes to trial, the jury finds him guilty- and then the media outrage ensues when the Trial Judge sets aside the jury verdict saying based on the facts their verdict can not stand. I'm not sure if I will comment on this thread further, but this case is a mess. Blame Stand your ground, Blame Zimmerman, Blame Trayvon for all I care... but at the end of the day the Media, Jackson, Sharpton and ignorance are all to blame.

  6. This thread needs to be stickied. My pants are stickied. TMI dude. TMP. The scoreboard is already working again. Worked two innings later they said.
  7. - Is Jamie Moyer the last active player that's still rocking the stirrups? I know a few of the older coaches still do -- Jack McKeon, for one. But, any players other than Moyer? I can't think of any. Our very own Steve Cishek rocks them hard. Especially like it when we're wearing orange socks, he's got orange stirrups. Really? Wow, I hadn't noticed. Now I feel silly. :zipper Choate wears them too. Last time out in Cleveland he wore Black Stirrups with orange sani's.
  8. Wow, those in the suites are epic. Nice touch to have the history of the game not just the team in them. BTW- those last 3 you posted are from the club level at the old stadium.
  9. Wow, I figured it was memorable and remarkable when people started blowing up my phone when it happened. Wish I could have seen it live. I was in class. Two people texted me. One who rarely watches the marlins (Rays Fan) and oen who we rarely talk baseball outside of the rink.
  10. This will be a good test for Gaby. He hasnt been sent down after a becoming a starter in 2010. it's not like some of the guys that have been up and down over and over. I'm sure he can make the adjustments he needs and come back and perform well. This..... And Andrenaline FTW!
  11. Can anyone explain to me what the hell this girl is doing with Anibal's bat? Probably to make sure she passes her weigh in.
  12. An hour and half before- I got in on Monday at 5:35 though.
  13. Now I am
  14. FOTG: that sexy uniform combo. YES!!!!!!!!!!! So awesome. Really was reminiscent of the original teal sets we had. Very miami and very different. One interesting and but not unexpected tidbit we learned from Samson today. Marlins have no plans to do a Turn Back the Clock Jersey night this year. My personally feeling is we wont see one atleast for another two years or so. I'd love to get as many high resolutions of this game as possible. Anyone have any? I can share what I have from Opening Day and the UM game if you'd like. I absolutley love this uni combo.
  15. By the way, 14 years ago today Piazza was traded to the Marlins.
  16. announced crowd of 25000 tonight probably would have been around 10,000 in Sun Life for a Monday night against the Pirates with the threatening rain earlier It was a good loud crowd. I was there. The lower bowls looked 80-90% full with the execption of one section on the 1B and 3B sides. Those were empty and for some reason. They kept moving people from there it looked like. The upper decks were at about 50%-40%. Considering it's cheaper up there, I'm sure the marlins are ok with the upper deck being almost empty. It did look dark up there.
  17. Don't sweat it. LoL. They came down with one out in the 9th and starting screaming, a bunch of drunks. Long story short, I lost my temper when they attempted to prevent me from getting my belongings when I left. Bunch of fruits- first he touched me, then when I pushed him back he got stunned. Just because I'm 5'10 and your 6'Something doesn't mean I won't tolerate your disrespect.
  18. BTW- Stayed until game ended. Got home in 20 minutes and I live in Homestead. For those in Broward saying it's a hassle to go, promptly stay home. And I took the 836 from NW 17th Ave.
  19. To the two "Marlins Fans" who were yelling in my ear on the left field wall. This is my board name. I'd love to knock you over the railing again. Please specify a time and I'll make sure to be of disservice to you. That is all. Alex Presley
  20. POUND IT. Its almost like he's saying- "yeah i hit that sh*t. I f*** that sh*t up". (Reference to her bent over with her doing the toostie roll)
  21. I'm going to fight each and every one of you. You do get I was making fun of him, right? But I'm always up for a scrap. Come and get one in the yarbles, if you have any yarbles, ya eunuch jelly thou. It's ok, you do realize I don't take sh*t you say serious right?
  22. Nevermind, I just noticed the time. Darn. Would be too difficult to get there by 1 from homestead.
  23. I'll go--- I'll take mom, lol. PM sent.
  24. I have long been of the opinion that the location, access, and parking issues (despite patchwork solutions), none of which will ever be fully remedied, will always disenfranchise spur-of-the-moment Broward, Palm Beach, and northern Dade fans, while southern Dade fans would never provide enough backfill. They didn't do much to fill the place up when it was close to them. For a while there, the team didn't give us much of a reason to do so. I got ya, your pissed the Marlins left Broward. I got cha. Can't consider a message on its merits, make a claim against the messenger. I got cha. I got cha, Your message is flawed and your pandering for an audience. I got cha.
  25. Why call him up? Phelps has been really good as a 5 for them. Because he's Andy Freaking Pettite and what has Phelps done with his career?
