We all know the Marlins would like some pop in their lineup, and the Twins may be looking to shed payroll before the year is out.

MLBTraderumors mentioned today the Twins will like to open up 1B for Joe Mauer long term and may be looking to move the Former AL MVP.

Who thinks the Marlins may take a run at him, and what do you think it would take?

I can see us having to include possibly Gaby in the package (we may want that as well), but who else may go?

Per our favorite jumping point...

Discuss.

Id like to go get Reddick from the A's. If they fall out of contention in the next few weeks, it might be a possibility. He seems to be flying under the radar. We played together in college. He is a naturally gifted athlete. Good contact, above average speed, great arm, and a lot of heart. He plays all out, all of the time. He also is under club control for a few more years.

I like Reddick but why would through A's trade him? He's playing well, relatively young and like you said under club control.

Id love Morneau and think he would fit perfectly in Miami. Don't know how much he would cost, but anything reasonable I would be all for. A lineup of Reyes, Infante, Hanley, Stanton, Morneau, Morrison, Boni, Buck, P sounds amazing

I'd like to get Mike Trout, but that's likely not happening either.

We would have to make it worth it to them. When they fall out of contention, we would really have to offer a sweet deal. They seem to be in constant rebuild mode, which he could easily be part of, we might be able to pry him away for the right deal. I think he would be a great fit for us. Plays all three OF positions very well.

I hope he ends up being an allstar for obvious reasons, but even if he doesnt, i do think he will be an above average OF throughout his career.

Morneu costs the club roughly 14 million a year until 2014 I believe, plus whatever assests the Marlins may be trading.

I couldn't imagine the Twins pitching coin in to cover some of Morneau Salary, so lets assume we're taking the entire 14 Mil unless we offer a top prospect like Yelich.

I also see us having to send Mathison, and possibly Skipworth.

He's one of the guys they're building around now.

Also, this is the worst time to make a trade for Josh Reddick.

-We would have to overwhelm them.

-It's no sure thing that this power surge he's had this year is legit.

Mattison and Skipworth suck and have no trade value.

Justin Morneau at $14 million until 2014 probably sucks even more. Why would the Marlins want to do that?

Also remember that the Marlins really don't have that many quality minor leaguers in their system right now. It would be cool to hold on to guys like Yelich and Fernandez instead of getting involved in rebuilding plans of other teams.

Agree.

We would only get him if we set our radar on him and werent willing to accept "no" for an answer.

The power surge is legit. Seen it first hand. Hit with him on a daily basis.

Neither did Badenhop and Rabelo. But we asked for them as throw in. The Twins may see little risk, big reward for them both. Mattison already made the big leagues, Skipworth may give them organizational depth at a position they'll need soon.

Yeah, Badenhop actually had solid K/BB rates in the minors and clearly profiled as a groundball guy; at the time of the trade, he was a starter, as well.

He had more value than a Skipworth/Mattison and was basically supposed to be the 5th best player in that trade.

The Marlins are better off signing an outfielder in the offseason (the OF FA class is loaded) and keeping their prospects.

Then why even bring them up? It seems kind of silly to me to involve literally worthless players in hypothetical trade talks.

What makes you think the Twins would even be interested in Mattison and Skipworth?

Lets say I felt a tingle in my pants, and it made me very happy.

The Marlins don't have a lot in the minor leagues to make trades with. Yelich would interest other teams, and that's about it right now.

Injury waiting to happen.... Go get Dunn or C Lee. Cost less and they don't live on the DL. Also they are not Canadian haha. Trade any prospect beside our top 2 they both look like real deals.
