Anyways... I'm not a big Fredi basher but sending Pinto out for a second inning when he struggled mightily in the 9th wasn't too bright. & even more, to leave him out there after two straight walks. Now you've got the game winning run in scoring position and a pitcher struggling with control. Tough not to make a move there IMO. Yes, but I dont think that we had enough time to get someone up in the bullpen to get warmed up. Pinto got the first two guys out quickly so after the first walk there was nobody in the pen to bring in. Eh, not a good excuse. First off, he had control issues in the 9th inning. Should have had someone loosening up for the 10th in case he got wild again. Secondarily, there are many ways to stall time to get someone loose. Matt could have talked to him and Wiley hadn't even had his once turn at the mound yet. No way Pinto should have been left in. No control in the 9th and walked 2 consecutive batters in a tie-game in the 10th. And it wasn't like it was a lefty-lefty matchup with the rookie. I can only assume that Fredi didn't want to burn another pitcher being that we were in extra frames, but I don't like managers who play their cards expecting 20 inning games. Just my personal opinion though.

Out of curisoity, can we enable some sort of chat feature on this website? My other 'teams' websites mostly use a chat feature during the games as opposed to a topic thread, which I personally find rather annoying. I know I am not the only one since someone, during a recent gameday thread, even mentioned doing an AIM chat session. I think it would be easier on everyone if we could setup a chat room in additon to a gameday thread. It makes the gameday experience 10,000X better. JMHO. Thanks Jason

Nor do you leave him in after he continues struggling and walked two in a row after pitching 1 and 2/3 innings. Nor do I think he should have been in there pitching to Philips in the 8th with his left handed splits and a man on base, but that one worked out nicely with the DP.

What about Jacques Jones from the Cubbies? He is obviously more of a left/right field kind of guy but can certainly play CF if needed. He's been platooned over there since Felix Pie came up and the fans don't like his horrible average. He's probably a cheap pickup (I think he signed a 3 year, $16 million deal a few years ago and not sure when that deal is up). They have been shopping a trade for months now. If they are willing to pay a big portion of his remaining salary, I'd like to trade for him. I think a change of scenery, a fresh start would do him good....and we could always use a good left handed bat in the lineup with a little pop in his bat. Just thinking out loud folks.....

But I've had my fill and am looking to get back to West Palm. Just letting the housing market to level out before I sell this house / move into new house. Thats why I am new here on MB. Been getting my fill on the Gator boards for the last few years and just happen to stumble on this site recently. But I've been a solid fan of the Marlins since '93. Got it. Orlando for college, now Slowcala for work Wow...theres another Marlin fan here in Ocala. :shocked: I guess that makes two of us!! Yeah...work brought me to Slowcala after college as well. Man no comments on the good news I posted about Mitre.... You guys aren't glad to hear it? I've had those cramps before. It hurts and you pull up lame, but Mitre was limping pretty badly 15 minutes later when he hobbled off to the locker room. I HOPE that he is back in 5 days b/c he has been our most consistent pitcher (and I love sinker ball pitchers)...but...I just seem to think it was more than just a "cramp". But.....I will keep my hopes up.

Gotta like Olsen, who is public enemy #1 for the Philies, gets out of the dugout in a hurry and quickly moves to the front lines. Nice to see a spark of energy with this ballclub!!
