Ok...I'll start searching (but that defeated the point of me asking) To me, I think its more important to see how they fared against other teams record as of today. That takes in to account every game played by every team. (I doubt that it would be that different anyhow)

I was curious as I started to remember all the talk at the beginning of the year where everyone claimed we were just feasting on the bottom dwellers (Pitt, Was, etc). So, being so far in to the season, what is the Marlins record against teams at .500 or better and their record against teams under .500?? I don't know where to find it but I know some of you will (cough...Rab...cough). Thanks in advance... Jason

While I hate Moyer and what he has done to the fish....you gotta admit that what he is doing this year is pretty incredible. 45 years old and he has won 10 games and an era of 3.79.

All I'm gonna say is that the National League East will NEVER be this wide open again. Getting Manny doesn't guarantee anything, and its possible the Fish were never really that close to getting him in the first place. But if indeed there was a deal on the table that would have upgraded the bull club and we didn't pull the trigger because of a few prospects, I believe we will regret not making the trade. While retaining the prospects may help us in the next few years, the Phillies, Mets, and Braves will all upgrade this offseason and all three teams have more money and resources than us. Chances of having this good of a shot are slim. I guess we'll see this offseason how committed we are to the future. We have a lot of players in arbitration years. It will be interesting to see how things develop

I am in the middle. Would have been an exciting 2 months to say the least...but I am happy that we didnt give up Hermida and prospects for a 2 month rental. I am much more upset that we couldnt get a catcher. Texas only has 8 of them to deal. :sigh: And they were on the block, but noone wanted to pay what they were asking for. Ohh.....i am sure the Marlins inquired and made a run at them. I am just surprised on how tight Texas was playing their plethora of catchers.

Stay in Albuquerque where he belongs. Where he belongs? What else can he do there? Develop 20 more home runs? Maybe a .450 OBP? Hitters league or not, he has nothing else to prove there? Oh well....I guess we'll enjoy September that much more.

he will come up with the expanded rosters and he may earn a lot of playing time. Though....the division race could be won or lost before the September callups.

I was hoping to trade Jacobs, not so much for Molina, but rather so that a spot opened up for McPherson. Now that the deadline has come and gone, are there any options (besides waiver trades or injures) or scenarios that allow a call-up pre-september? Putting Jacobs on the bench doesn't make any sense. (Jacobs AND Helms on the bench behind Cantu doesn't make much sense). Before folks jump down my throat, I like Jacobs, but would rather see what McPherson can do after his tremendous PCL year. I just don't envision a place for McPherson without an injury. TIA

I'm no bat expert but Inside the Marlins did a story on bats and the Louisville Slugger guy mentioned that the average bat has gone from 34 ounces to about 30.5 ounces over the last decade or so. But the players still like the small handle, big barrel style. That may have something to do with it. I'll say this, Hermida better change his order or bat company. It's getting ridiculous.

To be honest, I didn't know Pinto's splits were that good. But with that said, Pinto wasn't sharp (he was all over the map from his first pitch) and Philips crushes lefties. I still would have made the switch. We'll have to agree to disagree

I think we got lucky with a great play by Hanley and Uggla, but I certainly did criticize that too. It's just that the Pinto situation ended the game, so naturally, thats where most folks will turn their attention. ...and you are right that is the life of a manager. He gets paid well and has a high profile (and public) job. So naturally, he opens himself up to criticism as much as praise. It comes with the territory (and salary). I was hoping when Wiley went out there it was just a stall tactic, but it wasn't and the rookie came through. Even though we played horribly, you tip the cap and move on.

It was not bringing Pinto in (although I feel as though he should have never faced Philips)...but rather, leaving pinto in after pitching 1 2/3 innings and walking 2 consecutive batters. Yes, he was somewhat effective until that point, but it was clearly time to pull him. He was no where "dealin" as you put it. He was all but over the plate. It wasn't like he was spot on prior to those two batters or a natural long reliever. Huh? You talk as if Pinto hasn't gone multiple innings before...it's what he does, more often than not. That's why he's over an inning per game. And before the run (at the time Janice came up)...his ERA was at .6. Wasn't that the argument the other night? "Bring in Pinto in the 7th, b/c Tank has sucked all year?" So...last night, we lost with the guy who's been our best, thus far. Tell me, what you would've done in that situation...since Miller and Kensing were already used, that meant Lindstrom was the righty you would've brought in. If Lindstrom allows the run...guess what happens? The same comments we heard the other night about Tank, applies to Lindstrom. It's all a bunch of BS...NOT everything goes your way, in life. The opponents won. Freddi's fault, of course... I am well aware what his ERA was prior to the game. He has been exceptional. It was clear, however, that he wasn't "dealin". Struggled in the 9th and wildy walked 2 batters in the bottom of the 10th...both of which should have signaled a change....to whomever was ready. I simply critized him being left in there. If Lindstrom lets the run in, then I'm not on here making the Fredi arguments. He opened himself up to critisim by leaving him in there. We all can agree that with 162 games, there will be more of these type of games, both in the win and loss columns. Last night, the opponents did win, but I simply feel that our team gave them runs throughout the game by playing poor baseball, and Fredi's decision to leave Pinto in there deserves as much attention as Pinto gets for walking two batters or Hermida for misplaying a ball or Cantu overthrowing first base or Hanley's baserunning. It's all just observations and conversation.

Erick, It's not so much about optimism or pessimism, but rather watching them play to their ability. I've always been a big marlin fan and will continue to root whoever puts on that uniform. With that said, when the team doesn't play to their ability, we have the right to point that out. When they play out of their minds (during the win streak), we have the right to discuss that too. I'm not upset with your posts because I know we are both fans and simply have two different ways of supporting the team. I am more than happy at their performance this season and it has made watching them so much fun. By making criticism, however, I am simply pointing out what I saw during the game...not so much a prediction of future success or failure. I think we all know that Fredi doesn't read these boards, so any comments are made simply to have conversations with fellow fans. If we all thought and responded the same, then message boards wouldn't be any fun! But if you must know, I am certainly an optimist with this team. We're young and talented and I see good things ahead. I was expecting 2009 or 2010 before real contention...but I'll take it this year!

But I have the right to question his decisions on this forum. (as you have the right to disagree...but enough with the "have you ever managed a game" BS.) Also...pretty classy for you to call the rookie Janish, who has no MLB at bats, a hitter who sucks. To use your argumentative method; 'It would be great to see you hit in a game". And from what I read, he was just under a .300 hitter in the minors. Give the kid time before you label him.
