  1. New roll call, looks like 5 present
  2. my letter to my Commissioner (Javier Souto) : Please vote YES on the Marlins Stadium today. We have been a 37 year residents of your district, and both graduates of Coral Park and myself of your alma mater the U of Miami. If we ever needed a stadium project it is now, with the economy leaving so many out of work. This project would immediately put hundreds if not over 1,000 Miami-Dade residents back to work and have a great impact on the local economy. Again please vote YES to the stadium project in today's meetings. yours sincerely, Kevin & Mary XXXXXXXX7*** SW ** nd Street Miami, FL 33155 Coral Park High School is located in Souto's district and is at 8865 SW 16th St
  3. Is Souto that puto that always goes off on tirades right before he votes? Where he spends 30 minutes saying that he watched Mickey Mantle play and blah blah blah...then he gets loud and annoying and FINALLY puts down his vote? And just wanted to say that my biggest problem with all this stadium argument is that so many people who have nothing to do with this keep sticking their nose in it... let the Marlins and their fans do their thing... why fight it if you are unrelated to it? I'm talking to you Norm! I live in his district, and I haven't voted for this douchbag once. But we need his vote today, so "You're my favorite politician today Mr Souto" :notworthy
  4. i donot listern to him i only listern to wqam for football doing season and collage basketball and um baseball I listen to UM baseball on 90.5 FM. that's UM's radio station. Exactly ALL U of Miami baseball games can be heard on The Voice, 90.5 FM
  5. I too believe the Mayor is playing a dangerous game with the all-in-one vote. Let them vote separately and get the 7 needed. We have waited for years and years for this day, what is another couple of hours of waiting just to make sure it happens.
  6. Bottom of the 1st, so game has started. Its live on NESN.
  7. Please release Sanches tonight.....he is trying to blow this game. :banghead
  8. I wasn't expecting any. Whatever, I would rather listen to Rich and Tommy anyday. I also enjoy listening to Rich and Tommy, but the whole point is that without any national exposure it inhibits guys like Hanley from getting commercial contracts. In the long run, the reputation will hurt the Marlins. Guys will never want to sign longterm deals here and always be looking to get out. Hanley might be the last long term deal you ever see with the Marlins. Not because the Marlins don't want it, but because players will not want to play here. ok ms.cleo since you can tell the future and what everyone will do, what are tomorrow lotto numbers You know I am right. Hanley will be looking to get out soon, if not before.

  10. Barry Jackson : FOX give the Marlins no respect So let's get this straight. The Marlins finished 84-77 last season and received not one appearance on Fox's 2009 Saturday baseball schedule, which includes three regional games each week. The Braves (72-90) were given eight games. Heck, even Oakland (75-86) and Seattle (61-101) got one apiece. How can this be?The Marlins' low payroll and lack of a national following are among the reasons why they are the only U.S.-based team with a winning 2008 record that did not get a 2009 game on Fox. Toronto (86-76) also got left off. And the Marlins were omitted from ESPN's first-half Sunday night schedule, too. ''That's disappointing,'' said P.J. Loyello, the Marlins' senior vice president/broadcasting. ``We have a lot of good players that deserve showcasing. We have household names. We have the most prolific double-play tandem in baseball. I expected to have at least one appearance. But it has been like this for the longest time. We had one national appearance after winning the [2003] World Series.'' Fox representative Dan Bell said the network is taking a wait-and-see approach with the Marlins and might add a game later. At least TBS is carrying two Sunday afternoon Marlins games -- Mets (April 12) and Phillies (April 26), though Fox Sports Florida gets local exclusivity. FYI: FS-Florida's first of 152 Marlins games will be at 1 p.m. Saturday against Minnesota. Typical........ :thumbdown The national media just continues to hate us for eliminating the Cubs in 2003. I don't understand why you have such a problem with this. I mean...you give the Marlins no respect either. Aren't we going to lose 100 games this year, and never ever see winning baseball till Loria leaves? I mean, if that's the case, why should FOX care to carry our games? Because every other National league team is getting at least 1 game, including the putrid Pittsburgh Pirates and the equally putrid Washington Nationals. They get at least 1, and the Marlins NOTHING ? That is total disrespect. I can diss my team, because its my team, but those from the outside should show proper respect. No. If the team is as bad as you say, FOX has no obligation to show the team. FOX wants viewers, I'm sure. They could care less about "horrendus teams" with "busts like Jeremy Hermida" (should've had Cole Hamels!!!!) in the outfield. Then why are they showing Washington and Pittsburgh ? You can't explain that with the same argument. Can't use the argument that they are larger markets because Florida is larger than Pittsburgh. It comes down to Loria. The media hates Loria as well. Its his fault, he must go, then the Marlins will be on TV. :whistle

  13. Too bad for Gibbons but I guess he didn't show enough to be that extra man we need.
  14. 0 errors today. Loria must stay... PERIOD! LOL
  15. The statistics that show that since Fox's arrival we have had absolutely horrific infield defense. We've also had really bad players. Jacobs was the worst 1B in baseball which effects the entire infield, we haven't had a true center fielder, we've had a skeptical corner OF situation with Hammer, a hot/cold Hermida, and guys like Gonzo and Borchard, Cantu is a nightmare at 3B, Uggla just isn't very good at 2B, etc. Hanley improved last year. That's really all I care about as he is the only full time player on the 2008 squad that probably has a longterm future here. And really, you have to suspect team defense goes way up with the new outfield alignment, fixing the infield corners (hopefully it is Cantu 1B, McPherson/Helms 3B), another year of growth with Hanley, and hopefully Uggla being closer to his 2007 version than 2008 version. I don't think we can dump Andy Fox "completely" here (not saying you are, but just defending him somewhat), and suspect the team's defensive problems are fixed with merely acquiring another 'Perry Hill.' The coach doesn't play in the game. Players still have to perform. And we just have not had the players recently. Wow....sounds exactly like what I said.....that a bad defenseman, is a bad defenseman, yet I got pounded for saying it. LOL
  16. 2 more errors today. It never ends, and they will never get better. Its pitiful. Loria can't afford to be an MLB owner, he needs to GO ! The truth hurts doesn't it ? Deep down you know I am right. You wish we had a richer owner, and one that cared about winning. Loria cannot afford this, he needs to GO
  17. 2 more errors today. It never ends, and they will never get better. Its pitiful. Loria can't afford to be an MLB owner, he needs to GO !
  18. this thread is ridiculous. i hope the d gets better, tho. Why is it ridiculous? With the performance of the D so far in ST, things do not bode well for the season, especially since the majority of the errors have been coming from starters who will obviously be playing the most during the regular season. Dude, just give up, I have, they are hard-headed and just won't accept the fact that this team, once again will disappoint. Loria is not committed to winning, only committed to getting that stadium built so he can profit from a quick sale. We will never win a division title while Loria is still the owner. Loria needs to go, PERIOD !
  19. I'm sure lack of focus and rust have nothing to do with it. Then tell me why they are once again leading MLB in errors ? Many of them came into camp in January to work extra, and they still suck. A spade is a spade, a bad defense man is a bad defense man in MLB. And this year the bats are silent.....this could be a less than 60 win season. :banghead
  20. If Loria is as cheap as is being said, then he would absolutely want to make the playoffs. That's retarded. No, playoffs means higher salaries, which means less money for Loria to spend on outrageously ugly "modern" art. You sir, are retarded. Playoffs mean significantly higher revenue. Ad-hominem attack ? Is that the best you can come up with ?
  21. Now I know it's still very early in Spring Training but our defense continues to be embarassingly bad in terms of the errors. Through 3 innings of today's game we have another 3 errors (2 for Uggla and 1 for G.Sanchez) meaning we have had 4,2,2,3,2,1,0,3(so far today). I understand that ST games mean nothing but even so, averaging over 2 errors a game isnt acceptable. How can something which the team preaches about so much, saying it is the organisations mentality be in fact so bad? It comes to a point when you really just stop believing that the Marlins are serious about improving the defense and all it is, is lip service. I'm not sure that the Marlins management really wants to win all that badly.....being mediocre or slightly below mediocre team means lower salaries. That, not winning championships fits into the cheapo mentality of Loria. Its just as simple as this, the defense will not improve until we can afford new players, and that won't happen unless Loria is gone. Loria needs to go. Loria has proven he loves championships and is willing to pay for them so this way of thinking is the wrong way. One championship that he lucked into with players collected by Dave Dombrowski. Tell me what championships have the Marlins won and how many division titles with players put together by Admin Beinfest ? He has some pretty good YOUNG talent, but when they start making some money they are gone.....its a never ending cycle and people here had better get used to it as long as Loria owns the team, because new stadium or not, this is what we will get. A leopard doesn't change his spots, and Loria will be a cheap jerk no matter what happens. Loria must go....PERIOD.
  22. Anyone know if Fridays game @ the Red Sox will be on the radio? Dallas is supposed to pitch and I'd like to listen. Thanks in advance Scott I have MLB.com Audio, you can pay for that and listen over the net. Its $ 14.95 for the whole season....and it includes every game played in MLB. Thanks Mungo! Hmmm wondering who you are since you know my name! We corresponded a few times by email last year after Dallas was traded to the Marlins.
  23. I know its March, but can they at least get the damn routine plays straight? Andy Fox is beyond horrible, hell a little league coach could probably teach better infield fundamentals. He was a favorite of mine when he played, but his coaching is either awful, or the players are just well below average defensive players. I guess after all there was a reason why the D'Backs left Uggla in the Rule 5 Draft. imagine how bad Uggla would be if not for that year he got under Hill....although I think he might be regressing back into that form. Andy Fox was a dime a dozen, a decent utility player who obviously doesnt know the first thing about coaching infield defense. I thought this was a results oriented business. If one of your main tasks is a miserable failure, how do you keep your job? I agree, I liked Andy as a player, but he's a coach now, and I think this was one area the Marlins screwed up on, not upgrading and bringing in a real infield coach.

Then why at the trading deadline, the Marlins did nothing but aquire Rhodes. That was not enough to get them into the playoffs. Its because they really don't want to do that, because that makes salaries go up.
