So I totaled my girlfriends car a few days ago and need to get her a new one. Luckily after the deductible, the insurance company is giving us a check for $10k. I want to make sure the car is at the very least comparable to her 2009 Toyota Camry (65k miles), but preferably something newer or similar in mileage but better. The Camry didn't handle to well in the snow and ice, so maybe something with AWD. My absolute max budget with the insurance check is $16k. I've only purchased cars opportunistically from friends and family in the past, so this will be my first time dealing with car salesmen. Hopefully you can answer some of my questions: 1.) How far below the sticker price is it reasonable to make an initial offer on a used car? My gf really likes this car listed at $18.5k online, but that is $2.5k over my budget. If I can't find another of the same car for much less than $18.5k would it even be worth visiting that dealership and making them an offer more than $2k below their asking price (which is already listed as a "managers special"). 2.) Are financing terms usually better from banks or dealerships? 3.) I'd like to put $10k down no matter what, and finance the rest. How coy should I be with the salesman about this? I've heard that if the salesman knows you're going to use their financing, they're more willing to be flexible on the price of the car. But I also don't want them to know what my down payment is going to be until we have an agreement on the final price. 4.) Is it necessary to have a mechanic come along if buying a car with less than 60k miles? I don't have any mechanic friends in the area Should I stick to a "certified" used car if i'm not bringing a mechanic. 5.) Any thoughts on the Buick Lacrosse, Cadillac CTS, Audi A4, and Mercedes Benz C-Class vs a similarly used Toyota Camry? These are all AWD, my gf loves them, and I've seen them selling with 60k miles or less for $12k-$18.5k. Thanks, any other thoughts on buying used cars from a dealership appreciated. Not really interested in buying from a rando on craigslist or ebay.

Are there specific examples of showboating that Hanley does? Acting like a sprinkler head when he gets an extra base hit.

That was one of the greatest game that I have ever seen. I believe Helms and Borchard went back to back to tie it up in the ninth. I thin it was Easley and Borchard...what a great game.

We all know Hanley clearly deserves to start for the NL this July in Yankee Stadium, but hes 120,000 votes behind Tejada. Look i already voted 75 times today (for hanley and uggla) all you have to do is use a different email address to get around the 25 votes limit. Its a little tedious typing in those verification numbers each time but it honestly took me at most 10 minutes to vote that many times. If you really want to help out, you can create a bunch of email address on yahoo or whatever and theoretically vote thousands of times. Come on if we all vote at least a hundred times that could easily mean 10,000 votes just from people on this forum. I for one will pledge to vote at least 25 times per day (for hanley and uggla) until the all star game. Come on we can do this!!!

Hey i just got "MLB 08 The Show". Its the first baseball game i've played other than the ones from EA sports (MVP 04,05, etc) so it's a little foreign to me. If you don't mind can you answer a few questions for me. 1. When batting (vetern mode) which analog stick is the one you use to aim where you want to hit the ball (pull, opposite field, on the ground etc)? At first i was using the left anolog stick but then i realized that that one was for the "guess pitch thing". The right one "seemed" to work better but its a little difficult getting use to using it. 2. (simple one) Does tapping the 'X' button repeatedly make your fielder and baserunner run faster? 3. What is the "force trade" option in franchise mode do? 4. Is it possible to charge the mound or get tossed from a game LOL? Thanks a lot people!!!

We'll infiltrate the fans and pull out signs. Why the hell buy tickets to a Marlins game just to protest? You'll get kicked out as soon as the signs come out, and if anything all this is doing is putting the money from the tickets into Loria's pocket. Although it would be kinda embarassing if on a rainy wednesday night against the Nationals, when only 800 people show up anyways, half of them are protesters.
