Let's not lose our cool
BTW, I assumed most of this was directed in my direction...if it wasn't, I apologize, just wanted to adress as much of you're post as possible. The post was mostly directed at you, but I still don't see the point of going out of your way to try to inform everyone of their hyperbole by mocking them rather than just explaining why they're wrong. Besides I really haven't seen anything on here that I would agree comes off like a frothing at the mouth idiot. The panic threads on here are pretty tame, and usually contain almost as many people bitching about the complainers as there is complaining. And if you think I'm in that crowd, about the only thing I reacted to over last nights game was the decision to let Willingham remain in the lineup and hitting high up in the order while he has struggled for 2 months. However I don't have a problem with others flipping out, its actually enjoyable seeing passionate Marlins fans. Nobody has come off like an asshat yet in my opinion. I didn't respond to your post point for point because I don't think your issue is with me anyhow, I'm just going out of my way to defend some of the more vocal members of the board. If people can't vent about their favorite team on their own board, where can they? And why does it bother you so much? Renteria you and I went back and forth last night about the same type of issue and can fully understand where you're coming from and where Undakai is coming from. My frustration has been that over the post couple of months everyone is so quick to trade, demote, bench every player on this team when they get cold. And I understand people have the right to post whatever they want, but it seems like there is so much negative crap on this board. Some people seem to want us to do bad so they can create another poll about how that guy sucks. It just seems like some folks are missing what a great ride this is. I would just like to see more balance and more positive stuff about what a great team we have As the team improves, so do the expectations. Its the nature of the beast. Instead of making blanket statements about negativity though, try just debating the points you think are ridiculous. If you see a thread about trading Dan Uggla, and you don't agree, go in that thread and debate the poster with solid points, instead of complaining in an unrelated thread about how negative and crazy everyone is. Thats what I do, I pick the points I agree with or the ones I don't and spend my time focusing there, instead of trying to assess the forum as a whole. Just to point out the obvious (cue Captain Obvious music)...this is a thread about not losing our cool... I guess I just think the whole thread is lame and unnecessary. Based on this criteria you could start one of these threads after every single loss we've had this year.

Article about the pitching staff
I'm almost as psyched about this staff as when we had Dempster, Penny, Beckett and Burnett all on the same team.

8/12 Cardinals vs. Marlins
That old school style card is soooooooo cool, but I feel bad for Volstad, he got left out . He can be the King EDIT: So who thinks Fredi will tinker with the lineup tonight? everyone, if he doesn't he is not sending the right message to his players Why? I wouldn't change much, but obviously I'm vocal about Willingham because I think he's playing hurt. And maybe bench Dan for being a moron, but thats the only reason. Other than that I think the offense has been showing positive signs lately, Hanley looks really good especially.

Is Josh Willingham done for the season?
real marlins fans wont bring him down so hes not producing so wat!!! do i need to remind u all that in the beginning of the year he was batting .350 and producing most of the runs. i think his injury is affecting his performance. honestly i say split starts with gonzo let him rest this off season and maybe he'll come back the way he did in the beginning of this season. He hit .350 with a healthy back. The entire point of this thread, even though I didn't clarify in the opening post (and probably should have) is that Hammer is still injured, and probably won't fully recover til next season. If I thought he was slumping, I wouldn't suggest he's done for the rest of the year. Normally Hammer is one of the hitters I really appreciate in our lineup... he doesn't have all the physical tools of a Hermida or a Hanley, but he's just a very intelligent guy at the plate with a good eye.

You go your way, I'll go mine. I'll be sure to never debate with you because you don't give inch. Your right, there's no room for optimisium here. Let me start a poll on how much Nolasco sucks Your description of this board is inaccurate and full of unnecessary exaggerations just to make a point that isn't really there. What do you expect me to say? "Some people seem to want us to do bad so they can create another poll about how that guy sucks." If that were true they wouldn't even be Marlins fans in the first place. "It just seems like some folks are missing what a great ride this is. I would just like to see more balance and more positive stuff about what a great team we have" LOL do you and I read the same forum? I've seen after wins people claiming Hanley is the best player in baseball, Uggla is the best second baseman, we have 5 aces on our staff, Andrew Miller is the best young pitcher in baseball, Hermida will be better than Manny by next year, people happy we traded Cabrera because Cantu is doing so well, not to mention the complete feeling of disrespect everyone gets whenever ANYONE who doesn't post on this board says anything negative about the Marlins... It goes both ways, you just refuse to acknowledge it. And once again, why do you need me to give you an inch? Go argue with the people who you disagree with, I'm not the one dying to kill our team and say how much we suck. Go tell them they're wrong, and why they're overreacting, and why the Marlins are going to be OK after all. You don't need to tell me that, I have faith in my team.

Is Josh Willingham done for the season?
I think if Gonzo was in there, he would of got Hanley in from 3rd at least one of those times, probably both. Willingham just does not know how to hit under pressure. Meh, I didn't mean this to be a flat out bash Josh thread... I really do believe his back is still bothering him, normally he's one of the guys on this team I would trust in that spot.

What do you think of this trade?
Looking at the stats, he has a .305 average and a .395 OBP. I know those are in AA, but they are still pretty damn good. Coghlan might not be as good as Uggla, but its not like he would be a huge down downgrade at 2nd base. He could be good, he's a highly rated prospect, but he could also struggle. You know what you're getting from Uggla. If we lose Uggla, I want it to be because we can't afford him and we're going younger, not for a lateral move like Matt Holliday. Corner outfielders are probably the easiest position to fill in baseball.

Fredi's anger
We have no idea what Freddi told his players behind the scenes. I do not think that you will read that in any article. He may have laid into these guys a bit after this game. But either way these guys are all adults and I do not think that yelling and screaming at them is the way to motivate them anyhow. As for this obsession some of you have with seeing Freddi get tossed. I don't get it, that does not really motivate the players much and it costs the team to have the manager sitting in the clubhouse instead of on the field. Besides, at what point yesterday was there ANYTHING worth Freddi getting tossed over? I just wanna see him blow up one time really, just for the hell of it. Selfish reasoning. I really think he's a good motivator though and our players seem to really like playing for him. Also the caught stealing where the guy missed Uggla with the tag, Tommy pointed out, a pretty obvious blown call. It was pretty hard to see from the dugout though. Even most of us watching on TV thought he was out at first. I thought he was safe. I'm pretty sure most in the game thread did as well. The reactions after it happened were 50/50, either "WTF Uggla" or "WTF he was safe". I guess, but I could only tell after they showed a replay. Its pretty hard to call when you only get one chance, especially when you're 100 feet away. It wasn't a 100% obvious blown call, but for a fan a little hungry to see Fredi blow his top, its enough to ask him to do something. I could see at least 5 other managers out to argue that call, including Ozzie, Lou and Bobby. Probably LaRussa as well. Not mad that Fredi doesn't argue though, like I said, its my own selfish reasons, it would be nice to know he's got a pulse.

What do you think of this trade?
No way for 3 reasons. Matt Holliday's production would drop dramatically outside of Coors. He'd still be very good, but the numbers just wouldn't be the same. And the second is that you need to think of position in terms of production. Uggla gives us something no second baseman who's name doesn't start with a "U" can give. Holliday's number outside of Coors, .280/.345/.457, would be much easier to match with another LF than Uggla's with another 2B. You dont think Coghlan will be able to do what Uggla has done in the future? Coghlan's not a power hitter like Uggla is, first of all. Second, what leads you to believe Coghlan will? What Uggla has done is out of the ordinary, he's set a record for homers by a 2nd baesman in his first 3 seasons. Is there anything you can derive from Coghlans play that suggests he will come close to Dan's production in the near future? Obviously none of us have seen much of him so you really don't have a lot to go on except scouting reports and statistics.

JJ has officially reclaimed his spot as the Ace of the rotation
I've said many times I understood what you were saying...you just think that since I disagree with you, I dont understand. So you agree if JJ maintains a WHIP around 1.4, its likely he will eventually see his ERA rise up over 4, and he will not be the ace of this staff? Forget that he may lower his WHIP and pitch more dominant, that has already been said to be a possibility... if he continues to pitch as he has so far, do you agree it will probably come back to bite him in the ass eventually, and he won't be an ace? If the answer is no, you really haven't understood a word of what he said.

Calling out Pressley
Lineup tonight: Hanley Amezaga (Uggla sits for being a dumb dumb last night) Cantu Jacobs (rewarded for being hot) Gonzo (resting Josh who is either in the worst slump of his career or playing hurt) Cody Hermida Baker
