  3. Ah yes Dan Uggla you're not missed.
  4. Just in case this game doesn't go as planned I have other options televising wise.
  5. We might not have even made the playoffs with JJ in June or for the rest of the season... One thing about Baseball is you're not out of it until all 162 games are played just look at the 1995 Seattle Mariners. We can do this but it's definitely more of a 1 game at a time thing. Anyway I'm happy we've been playing better Jack has done a great job.
  6. Clay Hensley: 1-2 - 2.88 ERA vs Brandon Beachy: 3-2 - 3.58 ERA ----- Will Boner get 27? Will Stanton get 25? Will Hensley go 7? Find out at 7:35 PM EST! < Road Fish.
  7. He gets on base and has speed. We won that trade.

  9. Philadelphia raped Arizona for Kolb. Absolutely raped them. A pro bowl CB who isn't even in his prime yet and a second rounder for a QB who has proven nothing. I shook my head when I saw it come up on ESPN. Could end up being one of the worst trades in NFL history if Kolb doesn't pan out. Actually Kolb was somewhat impressive when he got a chance to play iirc. If Vick wasn't there he would have been a fine starter. 2nd time tonight we posted in the same thread at the same time. GET THE HELL OUT OF MY HEAD! lol. LOL! I know this is a baseball forum but you can't just talk about football and expect me not to speak!

  11. That's not sabermetrics? You said sabermetrics say he'll never hit more than .240. If anything, sabermetrics say he has an unfortunate .257 .BABIP this year. Plus, if he gets up to .240-.250 with the batting average, that's more productive than the .240's of year's past because he's walking at a decent rate this year. You're also not taking into consideration that he's a catcher. Despite how terrible his year might seem, he has a 1.5 WAR. There aren't many good everyday catchers in the big leagues. If you're a sabermetrics guy, you'd see that Brett Hayes numbers are not sustainable. He has a .333 .BABIP (entering the day), a 5.1 BB%, and a ~27K%. The .BABIP is almost impossible to sustain and the K/BB ratio is just horrible. Start him every day, and you'll wish John Buck was back there again. You're basing your opinion on Hayes based on the fact that he's been productive over the course of 80+ plate appearances. That's not a telling sample. That's basically only a month of playing. John Buck has had good months, too. As a matter of fact, John Buck's numbers are trending upward as he's been more productive each and every month. Since you seem to like small samples, Buck has posted a very nice .766 .OPS (.262/.351/.415) in 72 plate appearances this month. Buck has sucked this year, to deny that or claim otherwise is silly. He is in below average in so many different offensive and defensive categories. Of catchers with 250 PA he ranks 14th of 19 in BA at .226. Below average. Of catchers with 250 PA he ranks 15th of 19 in OBP at .307. Below average. Of catchers with 250 PA he ranks 15th of 19 in SLG at .377. Below average. Of catchers with 250 PA he ranks 6th of 19 in SO with 70. Below average. Of catchers with 250 PA he ranks 15th of 19 in Runs with 30. Below average. Of catchers with 250 PA he ranks 7th of 19 in GDP with 10. Below average. Of catchers with 250 PA he ranks 13th of 19 in WAR at 1.5. Below average. Hell even J.P. Arencibia has a WAR of 0.8 so that 1.5 isn't that good. His defense is worse. Of those 19 catchers he is 3rd in Passed Balls at 7. Below average and the worst stat he is last in throwing our runners at 16% CS thats 61 SB and 12 CS. Terrible! What does line drive % have to do with anything? His LD% doesn't tell me anything it's been higher and lower throughout his career. All this being said with limited numbers Hayes has done better but I would also venture to say he would be doing better than Buck if he had similar PA and stars... of course I could be wrong.
  12. This just in. Samson says if this thread reaches 1000 posts he will announce the name. Umad? :lol Actually he said 2012 posts in honor of the opening of the new stadium.
  13. 1. Sabermetrics don't say that. 2. Hayes' production is nice, but it's also based on a small sample size. 3. Whether you like it or not, it's a business. The Marlins aren't going to be paying John Buck $6 mill per year to make room for Brett Hayes, who's never even shown signs of being a good hitter in the minor leagues. Erick don't try to tell me they don't say that, because they do I will post the numbers for you below. John Buck's BA/PA 2004: .235/258 2005: .242/430 2006: .245/409 2007: .222/399 2008: .224/418 2009: .247/202 2010: .281/437 2011: .226/355 2011: ZiPS (U): .233/511 ------ Hayes doesn't need to show he's been a good hitter in the minors if he shows he's a good hitter in the majors, which he has for the most part so far. ------ Yea it's a business, you don't sign a catcher who has 1 good year to a 3 year contract, dumb!
  14. Can we have a "like collection" where we turn in "likes" for prizes?
  15. Admin I like what you've done with the place.
  16. Reggie Bush traded to Miami as long as he redoes his contract. Never been a big fan of his just because he was hyped so much coming out of college and has never lived up to it. Still, he's a homerun threat and versatile. EDIT: Would take Bradshaw or Sproles over him in a heartbeat. The bold is true and thus you deserve a "like". It's risky but good luck with Bush, I suppose i will cheer for him more now that he is on the Dolphins. Seahawks 1st tier, Dolphins 10th tier, the rest of the NFL (don't care)
  17. I was going to vote the bullpen but then thought, no. Brett Hayes needs to get more attention and more starts at catcher at least let him start more for the rest of the year. Can't wait for the catcher competition in spring training next year. Hand shouldn't be pitching in the majors, when a pitcher has more balls thrown than strikes he needs to remain in the minors. I know we don't have "MANY" options, but lets at least let "ANOTHER" option try his luck at pitching. I thought Hand's reaction was comical, do you actually expect Jack to leave you out there when youre throwing balls all over the place and we "STILL" have a chance to win. Play to win. Gotta love Boner, I've always loved speed back to the Castillo days then Pierre now Boner is streaking!
  18. What can be retarded to you might not be to me...give Hayes PT everyday and we'll proly have the same 4 for 23 and .213 with RISP... Your logic is horrible, John Buck is not Brett Hayes, not to mention Hayes has proven himself this year he's hitting near .290. I don't even feel like this is an actual argument i feel like youre just stirring the pot as you're probably the only person that thinks Buck fits better than Hayes, given their results so far.
  19. Hayes is our catcher for next year. Don't agree with it...I actually like Buck...he's been clutch this season... yikes are we talking about the same buck who has a .213 avg with RISP and is like 4 for 23 with getting the guy home from 3rd with less than 2 outs? I know...but I still remember the GS at Opening Day, that homer in the 9th against ARI and yesterday's 2 run single with 2 outs...it's not CJ but better than Hayes and Davis combined... No he's not... thats a retarded argument... Hayes has hit all year consistently and he hasn't started every day. Buck has not.
  20. Hayes is our catcher for next year.
  21. LOL @ the Nationals. Hand don't shake your head he's not going to leave you out there to walk in runs, learn how to throw strikes in the minors. Quit calling this guy up he's proven he doesn't have the stuff to pitch in the majors.
  22. Why is Hand still getting chances to pitch, he's not ready to be in the majors, give someone else a chance.
